Title: Gap Lake in Sunny Hills
Post by: Olebiker on October 25, 2011, 01:42:50 PM
Has anyone been to Gap Lake recently?  How is the water level?

I want to suggest it as the place for our club's top ten tournament but I would hate to send folks there from Tallahassee and there not be enough water to run a boat.

Our club went in July or August and the water was fine.  Gap usually does not get low like the rest of the Sand Hill Ponds.  Maybe you can call someone over there that works with the county and ask.  They sure liked the Horny Toad that day, very shallow.  I won it with almost 10 lbs.

Thanks.

I fished there about this time last year and had about 12 pounds.  They were right up at the edge of the grass and just loved a shakey head with a black Trick Worm.

I tried the edge for a couple hours that day with no sucess.  Went to the hill in the thickest dollar pads and caught em.  It was a pain, had to clean the dollar pads off the tm every few minutes.  But they were their.  Good luck.

One of our club members went to Gap Wednesday and said it is too low to get a boat in.  That's a shame.  I'm thinking that the fishing kayak I have been thinking about is sounding better all the time.
