Title: Broke Sticks 2012
Post by: Lawguy513 on August 03, 2011, 10:17:25 AM
With the Championship for 2011 set, and the location soon to be announced, I think it is time to turn to the 2012 season.  It was once pointed out that Broke Sticks did not operate as a true club, because we didn't have elections.  When John and I picked this club back up, we just took it upon ourselves to get things going.  Now that we are done with the regular season, we are ready to turn to elections.  While John and I ran the season together, it should be up to the club to decide how many "officers" are needed.  Most clubs run fine with just one person in charge.  The "president" would be in charge at weigh-ins, and proposing changes to any rules, etc.  Both John and I are taking ourselves out of contention for the position for next year, to allow new blood to reign.  If you are interested, or if you want to nominate someone who would be willing to serve, please post in this link.  We can vote shortly before the Championship, which should give enough time for the new president to start the ball on voting for next year's schedule.  Let the nominating begin!

This topic has been up since early August.  Sounds like no one is interested in keeping Broke Sticks alive.  I can say that I really enjoyed the experience, and look forward to this weekend.  I will regret seeing this club die...

I think you did a great job. I nominate you for president in 2012. I will help all I can, considerating my physical limitations.

I agree in that you both did a great job and would like to see it stay as is and Damon and I would be more than happy to help anyway we can in the future.  I do understand running a club is far from easy and at times it's like no matter what you do you tick off some one but with the group that I've seen fish these it's never an issue.  Hope to see you guys back next year  :-*

I really enjoyed fishing with everyone this year. I think it went very smooth for myself and Michael to have never ran a club before. We have a great group of guys and I know I can call any of you for a favor and it wouldn't be any problem. I would love to do it again next year but here is my thoughts. I am going to fish some more nationalized events such as BFL's and or EverStarts and I can't see myself being  committed to running a club with the limited time I have due to my work schedule. All of the schedules have not been posted yet so I'm not sure which route I am going. BUT IF I see that I MIGHT can swing it then I will try. I'm not making any promises. We will just have to see when the time comes. We will duscus this more Saturday and I want to hear anyone else's suggestions. See y'all then. Thanks John

Another thing to think about is how many clubs we have in this area. ALOT!! That really hurts a clubs attendance since everyone is spread out to 10 different clubs. This is just my opinion but if we were to say join with TCTC we wouldn't be fighting each other for members. I know almost everyone in TCTC and they are a great group of guys and there rules are pretty relaxed as well. If for some reason I can't do this next year and no one wants to pick it up I'm sure they would be glade to have a few new members. I'm just throwing this out there and Ron knows more about that club than I do so maybe he can give you some input on it but it's just an option.

Are there scales for the club?  If there are I'll collect the cash for the tournaments and do the weigh-ins if no one else can.  Any help would be great and any ideas on how to select the dates and lakes would be nice info to have.

Only thing for sure is I can't do both TCTC and Broke Sticks on the same day would to do this I would have to work around what TCTC has going already.

Sounds great Ron since Broke Stix is always on a sat should not conflict with TCTC. I think Lawguy has scales. Perhaps you and Airforcechief11 can come op with a tenetave sch and all the 2011 members can suggest any changes. I will just be happy to see the club continue.

Hey Ron I have the scales at my house. Tey do belong to the club. I'll fish all that I am able too and help with whatever when I am there. I'll get with you when I get home and give them to you.

I am glad to hear that you guys are going to keep this going.  I wore myself out with too many things going at once, and I hope to enjoy fishing this year, instead of it being so much work.  I look forward to seeing the schedule to see if there are any that I can make.  Jim, I might take you up as your back seat from time to time!

Ron, depending on my work schedule, I will help when I can. Suppose to be some changes for the new year at work so I am not sure what days off I am going to have yet. Should know shortly.

That sounds great Todd, with a small close club like this it's nice when folks jump in when they can.  ~gf
