Am I missing it? I can't find who won? The contest ended on the 10th.
The only thing I can find is as of the 5th
Iaconelli in Region 1, Oklahoma's Kriet in Region 2, Alabama's Martens in Region 3, and California's Reese in Region 4
My understanding is that the results will be revealed at ICast.
Cool, didn't know that and couldn't find it published anywhere in the few minutes I searched.
Last I heard, Skeet was so far ahead in Region 4 that only Alton had a legitimate shot at catching up in Votes.
Not sure, but i think it was the same for Ike in Region 1
I would have liked for them to add a vote spot for Rookies too.
The winners will be announced at I cast as Bountiful Waters said. There was a press release on I think it was bassmasters or bassfan about when the finalists were going to be announced.
B.A.S.S. confirmed today that the final four competitors for Toyota Trucks All-Star Week will be formally announced at the ICAST show in Las Vegas. The announcement will be made at the B.A.S.S. booth (No. 1219, near the northwest lobby) at 11 a.m. (PT) on July 13.
People not in attendance at ICAST can watch the announcement live at bassmaster.com.
There you go - tomorrow at 11 am PT and it can be watched at bassmaster.com
To me, this post season stinks for the anglers for the following reasons:
Yes - it's great face time. And it's a bonus that it is a no-entry fee.
However, it's winner take all. So for the 2nd to 12th spots, no winnings. Now consider they have to travel there, get a hotel, food, gas, baits, etc.... That's alot of money to shell out and get no return.
I hope Swindle, Evers, or IKE win it. Someone PLEASE beat KVD!
Yeah there are a lot of things to consider that many of us don't. One thing in particular that many of the pros are thinking that we don't think about is cost. Winner take all leaves no room to recoup funds. Now the very next weekend is the U.S. Open on Lake Mead so many of the anglers are wanting to fish it instead where at least a check is possible towards yearly earnings to put food on the table. The Open is on the other side of the US. Fishing both is nearly impossible and getting any prefish time is complete not an option. Things could have been done much better to accommodate both the angler and make it more interesting for the spectator.
I'm still going to give the new B.A.S.S. leadership the benefit of the doubt and hope for greater things to come this next year :-*
Ike's gonna win it anyway lo

Humm, it's been a while since the pool guy has seen a winners circle might be nice ~roflmao ~roflmao
Hell yeah!!
Sanders and Mercer just announced the 4 Elite vote in winners:
Reg 1: IKE
Reg 2: Kriet
Reg 3: Martens
Reg 4: Skeet
Go IKE!
Nothing against Skeet, just wished Alton would have gotten in instead.
Just like 8 days ago LOL
Told ya Ike was going. now he's just gotta win it to make me look phsycic lo

Me TOO. Alton had a great season and was one of those guys in the 9-12 position in the AOY standings that did not make the post season due to the fan's voting in 4 spots.
I voted for Alton every time - but he just didn't get the support.
I also voted for Kriet and was surprized he beat out Brauer and Clunn. It was very close. Kriet beat brauer by 500 some votes out of 38,000 votes I think.
I did not vote for Martens and was surprized he took his region.
Sure would be nice to get picked as KVD's virtual partner and win that boat!
I think the fans did a good job with who was voted in. I'd like Ike to win it all, however I would much rather see him win the classic, or well, both.
I'm not sure what to think? Meaning here was a chance to put someone different up and very few (obviously not the majority) took the opertunity :-\ Folks always saying how they are tired of seeing the same face, yet they just got voted in?
Well I'm pulling for Kriet.... I love Big Bite Baits :toot:
I personally do not like the voting option. It turned the event into a popularity contest. If it is truley " All Stars" then take the top 12 and be done with it. Not sure why they even have this event with the Open, ICast, etc. bouncing around similar dates. I applaud the organizers for trying something, but this is not my favorite.
I agree....... skeet, ike, martens...... the voting went along the lines of who was mostly known to the TV viewers. I also do not like the format. Make it the 12 top in the AOY, and how about some money for the guys 2-12? to cover expenses.
Too bad someone like Paulenak or someone up and coming didn't get the vote.
Maybe Ott Defo (sp?) will shine? Kreit is deserving. He could use a break. I think he came in second at Onieda a few years back and the classic second too- he can fish and could use a win!

that's a valid point...the one guy I was rooting for (and voting for) was Charlie Hartley. NO particular reason other than he said something this past year that meant a lot to me personally (in one of his columns)...
I was voting for Kriet and Martens...then Hartley...
Can understand the 'alton' vote...
my choices were made based on which anglers I felt might do 'best' in that venue...basically, I wanted the guys I voted for to have the best, real chance to win it...Guys like Martens and Kriet I thought can be pretty dangerous on the water chosen (it came down to water/angler abilities for me)...
It'll be an interesting, fun tournament...but ultimately meaningless this year...bearing in mind that this tournament could impact AOY honors...just not this year.
Out of the four vote in's I hope it's Kriet or Martens that take the win. Both could use a title. I think it should have been the top twelve that were automatic in's too, but they did get the fans involved and help show their interests. Maybe the All Stars should be a top 20 anglers set up with the top twelve in points automatic in and 8 vote in's. I know they cut things down to top 12 and top six for final day TV coverage of Tour tournaments but this is a special post season event. Any way it goes we get one more event to watch and I'm happy with that.
kreit was the only one i voted for out of the 4.
I'm like jocko. i wish Palaniuk would have gotten in. or another rook
I am glad to see Kreit get voted in and although I have to admit that Martens is a great angler I sure would have rather see anyone but him voted in. ~b~
I don't have alot of respect for his credibuility after I have seen several interveiws including this last one with Cork where he denies usage of outside info. You don't wind up at the same peice of uncharted structure time and time again as another angler by accident. ::) And you don't find a 10x10 peice of UNCHARTED structure in an 80,000 acre lake in 3 days without help. Sorry He is not going to convice me that he doesn't use ALL the tools available to him.

IF you ever get the chance to talk with him you might be surprised? Not defending him but you should at least speak with the man yourself before you call him a liar.
His ability to read a sonar unit at 60 mph is uncanny. His boat is
wired beyond our comprehension. His batteries? 17 pounds each ;) The man takes electronics to a year 2040 geakness that we don't even think would apply to fishing.
Not defending him against your position. Even in my interview he said he talks with other anglers but doesn't "hunt" GPS coordinates. Just saying.
They all have a Huge abuility to read Sonar But the 2 instances I can think of would not have been found cruising unless it was pure luck. Like I said he is a Great angler, NO argument at all there, you don't finish 2nd as many times as he has without being a great angler, but you also don't find what he found, where he found it in a 3 day practice without help.
The other angler that was sharing the spot will tell you strate up his waypoint came from a team packet.
They all do it, watch them practice and it is obvious when the bite is offshore.
They would be Fools not to use every tool that is available to them. When you are talking about disecting structure on a Lake with more surface acres than TBend in 3 days, your not going to find the sweetspot consistently without numbers. can't be done. New Electronics and improved Charting can put you an all the comunity stuff, but not the uncharted junk piles, rockpiles, brush piles.
I never said he was a Liar. He just isn't telling the whole truth.

I agree 100% Jay.
As far as Martens ::) ::) when I'm out of the room and he is on TV I have to come in to check and make sure Danielle didn't change the channle to the view or some other chick show,,,, man that guy sure knows how to whine. When I'm in the room and he comes on tv,,, I change it to the view,,,, figure if I'm going to listen to some chick fuss I might as well get to look at Elisabeth Hasslebeck lo
Kreit and Ike are the only 2 I voted for. I was hopeing Walker and Ish made it in.
Shawn - I can't say that I know everything that Aaron Martens does - but, I do know a lot of it. I can tell you that he does not call local anglers or tackle shops. Does not go looking for information from locals in any way shape or form. He does talk with other anglers on the tour and get some information as they all do. However, I can assure you he get's a whole lot less information than 90% or more of the other anglers.
How he finds a sweet spot like that is from FISHING FISHING and FISHING. The guy fishes non-stop spends many many days on a lake before the off limits period and then spends sun-up to past sun-down during the practice period. His pre-fish and most of our pre-fish are two different things. He reads his electronics like nobody I have ever seen before and I have been on the boat with a good portion of the top 100 anglers in the world. I spent last Wed night on his boat doing some filming and he spent quite a bit of time showing me his electronics and how he uses them.
I think where you are misguided is that you think he found anything during the 3 day practice period. Keep in mind he could have spent a month straight on that lake in December or January or February - and found that spot, marked it and then returned to it during his 3 day pre-fish. Most of them already know what they need to check well before the pre-fishing even starts because they are pro's and they put their time on the water months before the event!
I can't tell you what to believe - but this is what I believe and I have spent quite a bit of time with Aaron.
Tom, I very well could be wrong. It just looks funny to me that 2 elite pros show up to the same spot and 1 of them admits to the spot being team info and the other doesn't.
The spot Is definately in a spot that you wouldn't be looking for it.
Like I said before, I respect him as an angler and I am sure he doesn't seek out local info and docktalk, however team info is much more reliable and doesn't have to be asked for.

Tom,
I've followed you a bit...started when you were over at Bass West...so never having actually met you, I've at least read everything I could that you've written (BassWest was simply the best during the time you were there... ~c~) ... and I imagine you have some insight into some of the 'west coast' anglers to a degree that many do not...
now, what I really want to know: from your time with aaron and the filming you did...will there be a time when a 'finished' product will be available to be seen? I believe I would look forward to that...
Fogy, I believe that Aaron could use some time with a marketing/image professional...break down some tape...dude is an excellent angler...and at the same time, his free sharing of info also includes his 'at the moment' thoughts. We might agree that it doesn't always come across 'the best'...
still I'm guessing he'd still be a great opportunity to visit with one on one, spend boat time with...and really get to know.
the little I've seen him talk about his family...guy strikes me as an immensely solid individual who isn't 'coy' about sharing his info. I see Aaron as an 'angler savant'...the stuff just makes sense to him like no others...
who else talks about the 'smell of shad'?

I agree as he is obviously a very strong angler but IMHO he would have a much better following if every time he spoke it didn't come off like he was in need of a box of Kleenex and a good cry.
Well it doesn't matter who likes who I guess the Popular Vote is in and
Martins
Ike
Kriet
and who's the other guy.... oh yeah the Classic Champion Skeet
are the most popular of those that didn't make the top 8.
So who's up for having BASS let us vote on how the AOY or All Star should be done next year :-*

as opposed to letting them
earn their way in? why not?
>:D
I am 1000% for earning it...
Just don't figure they'll go that route :-\
This " letting fans vote thing is actually genius for Ratings. Now you have the four anglers with the biggest fan following fishing and bumping up veiwership. :-*

and probably a few extra viewers watching hoping for them to fail... it's the old Dallas Cowboy theory: love 'em or hate 'em, you watch 'em.
BASS is not quite the same...even if I didn't have a 'strong rooting interest' in any of participating anglers, I'd watch it because key for me is how they figure the stuff out...
I'm still not buying into the NASCAR/NBA 'market the individual' approach... still is man against fish...and it always will be at it's core.
in my opinion. >:D
Glad to see Kriet get in.
