Title: 2011 04 17 at Walnut Creek
Post by: coldfront on April 17, 2011, 06:01:32 PM
Water temps ranged from 51°F to 53°F
Clarity:  slightly stained from a two inch rain a couple days ago...

East wind at 10-15mph.  32°F air temp at launch (8:30 AM)...very, very cold.  Overcast

Found fish in protected areas near rocks/rip rap.  They'd hit a dead sticked fluke.  Couldn't get bit on a white spinnerbait...no bites on the LC pointer...no bites on a crankbait.  Best measured fish went 17.5 on the golden rule.

Slow fishing...exceedingly light bites.  Probably went for around 10-12 total fish...went to the warm truck at 2:30 PM.  Called it a day.

ice out was March 17...just about 4 weeks ago...

forecast was for day high to be 58°F...so if the sun had been out..like forecast...it would have been a lot nicer... ~roflmao

hands were so cold I couldn't feel the hook to unhook the first fish...

spawn will be about first week of June...another 5-6 weeks or so...

right about now, you should be saying 'It's good to live in the South'...I'll be thinking the same thing in August...only happy to be 'up here'... lo

Had wanted to get out Saturday and prefish for a tournament...but with 35mph winds and mid-30's...I decided to stay home.  What made it worse:  I couldn't find my cold weather gear...so I had to make do...and that sucked!
