Title: Humminbird 778c
Post by: lgetc on October 03, 2010, 04:33:36 PM
I just ordered one of the Humminbird 778c units. Does it have side imaging I have read so much about it I'M not sure if it has the side imaging or not, do you need a different transducer? Can it be mounted on the trolling motor like my 565 does? Does anyone use 1 of these units?? Is it a good and easy working unit?? ~flag

Looking at the HB website, that unit is not SI or capable of doing SI.  Looks as though the SI in the 700 series is the 798c SI.

The 778c does not come with the SI function. The 798c SI does. I haven't had any experience with the Hummingbird units, hopefully someone who has will chime in.

798c SI starts around $795 in stores. The 778c is closer to $400. Still a great unit, but no SI.

You can purchase the qudrabeam transducer and you will have side scan but not like the photographic shots you see from the hd units

Humminbird 778c is a 2D Only Unit. It is NOT Side Imaging. For Side Imaging in the 700 Series you need the model 798c.
