Water temp varied from pond to pond, stained or clear. Stained water was 79-82* and the clear ponds were 75-77*.
Caught around 30 in the clear ponds working a chart/white spinnerbait around grass lines and ribbit frog, black neon & watermelon red, in shallow grass and pad areas. A 7" purple or junebug worm also did its job, letting if fall on the outside grass lines with a 3/16 oz truetungsten screw-lock weight. Most fish were in the 1-2 lbs range.
For the stained ponds, the spinner bait caught a few fish, but nothing in size. The black ribbit frog and a black red spro frog produced fish in the 2-4 lb range. I was getting a blow-up on almost every cast for an hour. I decided to look for a big fish bite and used a BPS 14" junebug jelly worm, swimming it through the grass clumps. Only caught two fish but both were over 5 lbs. In a north central Kansas farm pond, that is a pretty good fish.
The weather was normal with the wind out of the SW @ 20mph. The bite slowed after the big cold front pushed thru a few days later. Wormed a watermelon craw worm around grass lines very slow and was able to pick up several fish after the front.
Good luck all.
