Title: Michigan Wheel Rapture stainless prop.........................
Post by: Choke Canyon Boy on December 19, 2008, 03:08:49 AM
Does anyone on here run a rapture prop or know of anyone who uses one? I am looking for a new stainless prop for my evinrude 115 and i found a killer deal on one of these Michigan wheel rapture props. My choices are this prop or a stiletto advantage prop. Please let me know any info good or bad on either one of these props. They are both stainless and are 13 1/8 by 19p. Please help me make a good choice before Christmas thank all of you and merry Christmas and tight lines.

Both of the props you are looking at are decent props. They are better than aluminum but not quite as good as premium s.s. props.

I'd call Powertech, they won't steer you wrong and best factory pricing around.

The last two post are funny because powertech is the brand I wound up getting. I just purchased a powertech red3 13 1/4 by 17p off e-bay for 99 bucks!!!!!!!!! This is about 200 off retail plus the hub matches my boat already so there is no need to purchase a hub kit. I was a little disappointed in the amount of responses I received on my prop posts. You post on hooks or baits and get 50 responses post on something important like a prop maybe get three. However i managed to find a awsome deal on a prop that i hope will provide years of use and performance .

Props are strange critters. In order to answer intelligently one needs to have a lot more info than you provided. Sounds like you found yourself a low priced prop, now will it perform. That 17 pitch may be a tad low and let your WOT RPM get too high and be prettty inefficient at cruise speed.  What is your boat weight? Boat looks good, what kind is it. Looks pretty big for a 115.

Unfortunately we just don't have a ton of folks that have prop experience here yet but it grows everyday. Better to get fewer responses then uneducated ones. Realdealprops is our resident specialist and gets to the forums when he can. If you need a faster response please feel free to email him.

My first responce is directed towards critter. Critter the boat pictured above is not mine. I have a triton tr17. Secondly the 17 pitch is recommended for my engine by Evinrude. A lot of guys get a 115 and try to put a big boy prop on it to try and pick up a few miles per hour top end. In the meantime they take forever to get out of the hole. I like to have performance throughout my rpm range my holeshot with this prop is effortless. Yeah i can only go like 50mph but i don't expect to go 60+ in my boat anyways. The rpm gets to exactly 5500 wot which is right on perfect where it should be for my engine. I really have a hard time believing guys who have 90 hp engines w 21 or 23 pitch props saying they have good performance. My engine is getting 5500 wot w the 17 pitch that means with say a 21 pitch i would only be turning approximately 4800 rpm which is low end of where i should be so how are these guys turning these big props in 90 hp engines doesn't make sense. Lastly Mike I understand what you are saying man. It is really hard to find information on outboards or props for some reason everywhere not only here you just have to do a lot of research on your own or have a dealer nearby. Oh yeah and critter i was just asking for good brands to choose from not anything more so therefore a lot more info on my part was not needed.
