Title: Night Fishing
Post by: toddmacc on June 28, 2008, 12:20:40 PM
I'm going to go night fishing this next week.  The only night fishing I've done is for trout.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

depends on the situation (i.e. boat, float tube, shore, weeds, moon) but I've found that medium sized (2.5-4.0") topwater baits in either Bright white or black work well. the louder the rattle the better. And a good way to fish them is with short accurate casts around emergent cover and something my friends and I refer to as "slack line shake"- cast out, reel in slack and just shake the end of you rod until enough slack is back in the line that the shaking no longer produces movement. kinda looks like something just sitting there twitching on the surface..drives em nuts....SOMETIMES..nothing is guaranteed ~shade

Thanks - I went last night and struck out at a place that I have done very well at during the day.  Funny how that works sometimes.  I appreciate the advice.  I will definitely put it to use next time.

Throw something with a lot of thump and vibration. The fish will move out away from their daytime cover  ;)

Frogs....definately throw some frog, fish them slow.  I have also had some good success on senkos at night.  Our club will be doing a night tournament on Pueblo in August...always fun!
