Looks like were gonna miss out on some great fishing out at Casitas again >:(.  What are these guys thinking?  Naci in Feb instead of Casitas or any other lake for that matter.  Post spawn again, what are these guys afraid of?  Catching some Hawgs!?

Get this, they don't want to drive that far... :bang :bang, or compete with the other 3-4 clubs already there.   ~xyz I'd drive to Clear lake to have the 2-day, so would a couple of others but it didn't happen.  I even suggested a night trny at Casistas but was told there's only 4 night trny allowed and all are booked by other clubs,  so  ~xyz ~xyz what, its not like they are going to be going 100 mph at night.

Well if I fish any, here's my take:
Jan 26 - Lopez - maybe
Feb 23 - Naci - not gonna happen
Mar 29 - Casitas - hopefully  ;D
Apr 19 - S.M. - probably not gonna happen
May 24 - Cachuma - o.k.
Jun 14 - San Antonio - not gonna happen
Jul 19  - Lopez Open - maybe
Jul 26 - Lopez Gold Coast - o.k.
Aug 23 - S.M. 2 - 8 pm - maybe
Sep 20 - Cachuma (last pts trny) - Sweet!
Oct 18 & 19,  - Lopez - Why not Cachuma???  o.k. though... looks like only 5 that I will look forward to.  The good thing is they don't conflict with Anglers choice @ Cachuma.

I'll probably fish most of them except Naci and San Antonio.  Unless we're on them good at Cachuma during those months then I might consider taking some time to fish those 2 tournaments, but I probably won't pre fish either one.

Post by: calincalif50 on October 23, 2007, 05:59:41 PM
have decided not to pre-fish unless it falls close to a scheduled camping trip. \\

When do the annual passes run from...Jan - Dec or month purchased
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Stan on October 23, 2007, 06:30:41 PM
The passes are good from the month you buy until 1 year later so they are actually good for 13 months if you buy on the first of the month, eg. buy on 1 Jan 08 and you are good until 1 Feb 09.

Stan, have you confirmed the rumor that they moved the launch ramp?
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Stan on October 24, 2007, 02:38:56 PM
Same  launch ramp as we have been using for the last several months except you have to go down the road that you normally drive up to get to the parking on top, because they're working on the first ramp.  So you should check to make sure no one is getting ready to come up before you head down since coming up and going down use the same road now and vice-versa.

Cal,   When you go to the next meeting can you find out if they will have the same rule as 2007, If you fish by yourself you can still weigh in 5 fish.  Also do you still have to fish only 5 events to qualify for the fish-off.  Thanks!

What is the confirmed schedule anyway?  Stan had a paper copy in his truck and for the Casitas tournament it had a different date than the 29th.

Wow, the more I look at it the better I like it, except for the Casitas tourney I liked it better when it was scheduled earlier in March.

The Feb 23 date listed above is wrong also.....The schedule that Glenn mailed out says Naci on the 16th of Feb. can you guys verify that on Wednesday night?

But don't forget tell them to Canx that Naci tournament and switch it to Cachuma............ ~c~

How was the meeting?  What came out of it?

Have a board meeting Monday to discuss where to fish instead of Casitas if it comes to that.  Put your orders in now.

I vote for Margarita, because on 15 March there is tournament at Lopez and Cachuma.

Cal, I just checked basscalendar.net  and did not see any tournaments on the 15th for Margarita and they normally list tournaments for Won, ABA, Anglers Choice, and 100%.

Might be ANY tournaments on Cachuma  check this out

The Cachuma Operation and Maintenance Board (COMB) has sent a letter to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors asking for the immediate closure of Lake Cachuma to all recreation boats. Here is a link to that letter:

Cal,  Keep us posted on the outcome of the meeting on Monday.  Also I think they should actually reschedule now and not pick a back up lake and say well lets see what happens at Casitas.  I  think they should just go ahead and actually make the call now to fish a different lake.........just my opinion.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: TomG on March 21, 2008, 06:19:47 PM
Stan,  you should call Glenn to find out what they are doing about re-scheduling another lake for the May and Sep tournament at Cachuma.  I called last time and they still didn't get the March tournament at Casitas rescheduled in time.  Since you are a past board member maybe you can get them to act quicker this time.  Even if Cachuma stays open that inspection checklist will keep most people away.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule

True!!!!!!!!!  And I'm guessing Jim probably won't be changing the AC schedule now after all the headaches he has endured over this.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: TomG on March 21, 2008, 09:21:04 PM
Yea, and John Barron even posted on Westernbass and said that Lopez is getting booked with all the schedule changes because of Casitas and Cachuma.  If Glenn and them don't act quick we may miss out on more tournaments.

I'M BACK, AND NO JET LAG SO FAR.  LET ME KOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH AC AND GOLD COAST FOR THIS MONTH AND NEXT?
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Dean on March 28, 2008, 11:24:51 AM
AC does Lopez on Sunday the 6th which is a NoGo for me.  I'm pretty much planning on April 26th at SM and June 7th at SM if those are o.k. with you.  The Lopez on July 12th should be o.k. too.  We will probably just be getting back from a visit with the family, but I am planning a couple extra days leave for practice.  Let me know if any of them won't work for you.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule

And don't forget GC is at Margarita on the 19th also.  Oh yeah, and by the way the GC Cachuma tourmnaments in May and Sep are a go.  Glenn said the lake will be open and that the Parks guy said that the only way to kepp the lake open is for the boating community to support the lake by using it.  We might need to use your boat Cal for that one unless I can get some kind of waiver for out of state Registration.

Post by: calincalif50 on March 28, 2008, 01:30:28 PM
Dean, all the dates look good so far, Stan GC is a go as well, using my boat should be ok, I'll be working on it this weekend to get it clean and dry.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: TomG on March 28, 2008, 08:09:20 PM
If they are as strict as Casitas half the Gold Coast guys won't pass inspection.  I sure hope Glenn plans on giving a refund if  you show up for the tournament and get turned away due to a boat or trailer issue of not being "Clean and Dry".
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Stan on March 31, 2008, 09:56:37 AM
Cal, after the AC at Margarita I am going to take my boat to Cachuma and quarantine it for 14 days.  That will give me almost 2 weeks of prefish time for GC and that way if the wind is howling we could use my boat, plus the GPs is helpful out there.  But maybe we could take your boat out there prior to that while mine is waiting and do some prefishing.  I'll get some GPS coordinates off my lowrance and put them on my handheld.  I was talking to Tom about ABA for May but it's going to be at Naci and I'm pretty certain that Tom and I won't be fishing that one so my boat will be free'd up for May and Cachuma.  I also talked to John Newman and he said that he thinks alot of guys are going to get the inspection done early and have their boat tagged to ensure easy access on tournament day and that's pretty much what I'm doing as well except I have to quarantine mine because of the out of state registration.

Stan, did you get any confirmation on the out of state thing since you can prove you have been living here?
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: calincalif50 on April 01, 2008, 08:49:04 PM
Stan,
Sounds like a doable plan.  I plan on taking mine to Cachuma after S.M. for an inspection after I finish cleaning it and vacuming the water from the carpets, bilge, and other water areas.  Hope the boat doesn't fall apart after it gets cleaned. lo

Does anybody know how they will deal with out of state boats?
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Dean on April 07, 2008, 01:25:35 PM
Talk to Stan to see if any exceptions are being made, but unless they do it'll be a 14 day quarantine before going on Cachuma.  I think the other lakes are just sticking with clean and dry inspections for now.
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Stan on April 07, 2008, 03:28:37 PM
That;s right Dean, so far.  As soon as I fish these 3 tournaments at Margarita my boat will have to be quarantined so that I can fish Cachuma.  Five years here and they finally figured out a way to make me change my registration, they got me where it hurts!  Chris, if you just plan on fishing and not fishing tournaments this year, I suggest going to Cachuma and getting their boat leash.  You'll have to wait 14 days but after that you can go whenever you want as long as that leash is in tact, and Cachuma is close and a great lake.  But then again you will be stuck at Cachuma unless you want to wait another 14 days to get back in there!  I will have to do the 14 day wait twice this year, once for the May tournament and then again for the one in Sep.

Post by: skeeterchris on April 07, 2008, 04:34:06 PM
They have me where it hurts, I'm not sure what to do at this point. I don't like to be stuck to one lake but then it will hurt when it comes to any and all tournaments. I guess it will be time to change tags......  :'(
Title: Re: 2008 Gold Coast Schedule
Post by: Stan on April 09, 2008, 11:17:43 AM
Yep, kinda sucks, but it would take an act of congress for me to stop fishing tournaments.  I mean I love to just go out and fish for fun, but it just isn't the same unless your competing, at least for me that is.  Tournament fishing really brings out the Best or the worst in a fisherman.
