Stan,
Looks like I'll be hitting Lopez this Tuesday as well, I have to work deployment at 4 pm on Monday and won't get home unitl after midnight (lots of comp time and some over time).  Sleep for 4/5 hours then hit the road  and check out the lake.

Talked with Adrian this weekend, he and Katie have moved and set up residence in Arkansas, they bought a resort with a main houce and 11 cabin/cottages.  Right on  the shores of  Bull Shoals lake.  I've of the lake but never been there.  Zoning keeps housing a minimum of 600 feet from the lake shore as a no build zone.  If you get down that way look him up.  Said they should be up and running fully by October next year.  Still has his house in the Carribean

anyhow maybe see you on the lake Tuesday.  Will talk at the lake

Cal, next time you talk to Adrian tell him to let us know if he gets a web site or at least give us the name of his resort in case we are in that part of the country.

Never been to Bull Shoals, but sounds like a great place to retire... especially if you have cabins to rent out!

Stan, since you have had time to break in your new truck give some details on MPG.  What are you getting towing and not towing on the highway and what about city mileage?
Title: Re: Lopez
Post by: Stan on September 27, 2006, 11:54:57 AM
Not towing on the highway about 20-22mpg, towing on the highway about 16-18mpg, not sure about city I don't spend alot of time driving in the city.  It's better than my other truck it gets about 12-13mpg towing and 15mpg on the highway not towing.

what make and model exactly is yours and what size engine?
Title: Re: Lopez

2006, GMC 1500 SLT, Z71, 5.3ltr Flexfuel. It's suppose to have more horsepower than the older 5.7 like what's in my other truck.  But I can tell the difference between them, it may be that the older truck feels like it has more because of the K&M filter and the FLowmaster exhaust sytem, that takes alot of restriction off the engine.  The 5.7 has more flat land get up and go while the 5.3 has better up hill towing characteristics.  That's just my take.  And that may be just the sound of the flowmasters talking.

The water was actually warming up and was clearing in all areas except by the bridge.  That area was a really red color.

Stan, you should do good this week.  The forecast is for warm nights and warm days.............I wish I had taken leave this week instead.

Yep, I'll be up there on Thurs or Friday, haven't picked a day yet, and then next Tuesday prior to the tournament on the 8th.  I haven't been out since the Naci tournament.  All this quagga stuff has got me sick and I just haven't been thinking about going.  I must have rattled some cages up at Cachuma cause I told them that I talked to my Attorney and she told me to let them know that they had better honor the contract they made with me or give me an extension on my contract.  She said that they had no grounds to call putting in a new ramp and then closing the lake to boats, routine, she said routine is something that is done on a regular basis, not once every 20 years.  They were a little freaked out about that! >:D

They better keep it open or there will be some Class Action Law Suits coming there way,  from what I can gather from the legislation passed last year, the only authority that can close the lake is the DFG and they should do everything in their power to minimize the impact on recreational activities.  That's pretty much a direct quote from that legislation.  Grumble, grumble, grumble.......................

Much as I hate to say it, it looks like this year's AC tournaments will not be happening at Cachuma. We've already cancelled one, and so have others, it looks very ominous for the lake.  The board is going to stall for as long as they can or Cachuma will make their every 20 yr maintenance routine...new toilets....can't launch because of machinery and hole, can't launch because a  ~xyz two-feathered, one eyed, nipsydoole bug is mating right now.    Soon there isn't going to be one lake in California you can fish on because of the over the top tactics.  AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  Right now I can't even make myself go out to fish.  I may try Lopez this weekend, but won't be able to in the week as we have another exercise that week, the 8th of March will be my last fishing day until I get back on the 27th
Stan it must be nice to have an attorney to go to.  I'd be happy with an extension, but if they move to close then I want my refund in full.  ~rant ~xyz ~rant ~xyz ~rant ~xyz ~rant ~xyz ~rant ~xyz rant over for now.

I know what you mean but I am thinking they will try there best to close it in March.  I think we may have to switch from Anglers Choice over to ABA Pacific Division what do you think?

Let me take a look at that schedule!

Okay, I looked at it.  Sounds good to me, it's better than no fishing that's for sure.

I guess the thing that will help us make our decision will be the results of that March meeting for Cachuma.

Give me a call after you fish this week to let me know how the bite was.

Just got a call from Glenn Newman, looks like they couldn't get a permit for Lopez next weekend so the tournament is Canx.  Next tournament will be in April.  Guess I will be prefishing for ABA instead.  So much for tournaments during the spawn  >:(.

Guess I'm going to save a ton of $$ this year with no Trnys to sign up for.  More time for fun fishing i guess

Stan,  If you are up for it we can use my boat next weekend on the 8th to pre-fish and you won't have to worry about lake entry fees and then we use your boat for the tournament and you pay entry fees.  Let me know if that works, its your turn at the front of the boat anyway.
