Well, after 4yrs of countless fish and abuse, my Favorite Defender casting rod snapped on a clown knifefish today. Good news is, Favorite will replace it. Bad news is, I am out a MH casting rod. But....I decided to pick up a Dobyns Maverick to use. Let's see how this compares to my Defender next weekend.
Tiny boat, but a big deck.
Good choice, I think you'll like it. I've never tried any of the Dobyns Mavericks, I should. I started out with Savvy and Sierra line, then moved up to the Champions and found my sweet spot. So today I'm still fishing Champions. I do have an Xtasy, I love for jigs and t-rigs, but the Champions dominate my my deck.
Got a chance to try it out today and all I can say is wow. I thought my Fury was awesome, the Maverick is right up there with it. I was throwing lipless crankbaits and chatterbaits with it today. I could feel all of the lures vibration and when it "ticked" against grass, trees or bottom.
Would recommend rhis to anyone looking for a quality rod, but also if you're on a budget.
