Title: the transfer of invasive species. the Golden Mussel.
Post by: Hobious on December 02, 2024, 10:25:31 AM
I've been in Texas spending time with my family.  all I was getting was text from fishing buds about the mussels showing up here in CA.  they were confirmed in the California Delta.  now some lakes are at a hard stop.  full sanitation before entry.  or 30 day quarantine.  I'm a kayaker, so I could have a Clearlake kayak, and a Berryessa kayak.  haha..

my secret lake is untouched thus far.   personally I am careful.  I store my kayak wide open after toweling the interior dry.  I even put a small fan inside to keep the air moving to desiccate any hitchhikers.  even my fishing net is siliconed completely to not trap water.

but I feel it is like trying to hold back water.  Clearlake could use about a billion filter feeders.  hahahha..

Watercraft are only one source of transfer of "invasive species". Waterfoul probably account as much if not more than  boats.
