Title: Life Changes Anniversary
Post by: Bud Kennedy on November 08, 2024, 06:01:44 AM
On this day in 1965 I entered the U.S. Army. This day changed my life forever and started the process that made me what I have become.  I had no idea then how much it would mean and what opportunities it would bring.  I still remember this day in vivid detail and after 59 years I am honored to be known as a veteran.

mine was 1995 in september.  correct -- would never be where I am without that.  And I still remember the "pick em up put em down", the dude who got smoked on the bus at basic, the fight i almost got into day 2, the running, the getting yelled at every morning because i messed up my night display while sleeping, the stupid wall locker lock :D  and most of all, the walk at graduation

14 May 1975 was the day my life changed.  Like many Veterans I can remember the first morning O Dark Thirty getting the bunk flipped over and all that yelling and screaming.  I'm thankful for everything I have & learned during my 30yrs of wearing the Army Uniform.

I wouldn't trade any of it.  I wouldn't be who I am now without that life changing experience.

Guys thank you for the Service you provided to our Great Nation  ~shade  ~flag

In 1970 I won the Draft Lottery even though I was the "prize", LO>
After Basic at Ft. Jackson and AIT at Ft. Lee, because of my civilian occupation, I was sent to the US Army Mortuary in Saigon, RVN where I helped identify and repatriate our fallen comrades'.
It certainly was a life changing experience but I was honored to make sure that our fallen were treated with the dignity and respect they deserved.
