Title: Wedge Bass
Post by: FlatsNBay on October 03, 2024, 12:40:55 PM
I was fishing with a 10 inch worm on a Texas rig. I felt a hit and set the hook and look (see pic)! The 5/0 worm hook wedged its way in the mouth of the bass without hooking it. I reeled him right in. Pretty cool! Have you ever caught a fish without hooking it?

I have had the plastic bunch up and the hook never penetrate.  They usually dropped off At the last minute.  Never had a naked hook exposed like that !

I've had this occur maybe twice in my fishing.  I managed to land both fish though.  It doesn't happen very often.

Yes I have. It's always weird, and welcomed.

Anyone remember using Velcro? A strip of the loop side stuck to a bait? Betcha very few remember THAT. If careful you could land a bass that way with no hooks at all, and sometimes it was a mess getting them unstuck from the bait.
