Title: Pascagoula River 9/24/24
Post by: fishingram24 on September 25, 2024, 09:14:00 AM
Been over 2 months since my last time on the water and decided to get out yesterday for a while. Launched at 8:30 with the tide still very high but starting to fall and ran south to the marsh hoping to find some faster moving water which I did but it did not seem to help. First bite was a small speckled trout, hour later a legal redfish and short bass on back to back cast then nothing for another hour. Ran north to the trees and stopped at the mouth of a small ditch that goes into a small lake and had water coming out. After about 15 minutes I'd caught 5 small bass and 1 legal plus missing several more on UV speed worms. went a couple miles further up river and went into a bayou with 15-20' of water and only a few bites. Stopped at the ditch I'd fished earlier and caught 2 more with 1 keeper. Headed back to Bluff Creek thinking that the tide would right to catch a few more but it was not to be. Put the Xpress back on the trailer at 3:30 and headed home. Sunny skies, air temps 75-92, water temps 81-83 and visibility was maybe 2' which was surprising considering we have had only 6" of rain in the last 2 months so water should have been much clearer. Despite not catching a lot it was good to be out and can't wait for some cooler weather.
