Title: alabama boater education: rule change - need to have proof of?
Post by: coldfront on September 19, 2024, 09:12:20 AM
reading through some facebook stuff, saw a note that in Alabama, all boaters will be required to have boater education certification 'on hand' going forward.

laws are such that those born after a certain date (here it's 1989) have to have it.  but as I read this, even old geezers like me will need to show proof.

wasn't sure if my coast guard certification from nebraska would suffice, so just spent the time and effort to go through the TN on line process.

given that I can routinely try to access Alabama lakes... looks like it's 'needed'.

not to mention 'one heck of an idea...'

In 2025 BASS requires all to have proof of boater safety training.
