Title: Totaled my boat
Post by: loomisguy on August 22, 2024, 06:44:20 AM
The tornado we had July 4th flipped over our dock at Cape Fair with 24 boats in it. Mine must have been pretty high in the air and landed upside down it broke every latch and I lost a bunch of rods and Tackle and 4 graphs.
Wanted to mention this because fortunately I had taken out additional coverage for contents. The standard on my policy was 3k I took out 10k and still topped it out.
It's something for every boat owner to be aware of. My insurance has been very fair  with the value of the boat but 3k for contents would have left me in a bad spot.

OMG, so sorry to hear about it.  But fortunately it sounds like you were better prepared than most in the same situation.  let us know what you do about a replacement.  Good luck!

Wow buddy. Good for you. I also have $10K on contents. And I'd HATE to have to replace that stuff.

I found a used Skeeter ZX 225. It's a little rough but the motor checked out good and With the help of a professional buffing I think it will clean up fine.

Hate to hear you lost your rig...

Insurance... Absolutely take a real look at what you have and what is truly covered. 10K wouldn't come close to replacing everything from the crankbaits to the rods and reel in my boat. We don't realize just how much we have wrapped up until you try and replace it all in one shot...

Have fun shopping on their dime. ~c~

Wow! Sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you were thinking ahead.

I have agreed value on my Stratos as well as upped coverage on both my electronics, and contents. I pay close to $500/year, but should anything happen, I wont have to worry about being able to replace anything. I did the same thing with our camper.

Sorry to hear that. The waterspouts and tornadoes are nothing to play with.

Tiller Mafia.

Bummer about the boat.  Glad you were able to find something else.  I have an extra 10 G for stuff on my boat.  It won't cover it all, but it take some of the sting out of it.
