I went to one of my favorite bank fishing spots at a local park. In the spring a topwater prop bait can be money. My only concern was that the previous 52 degree night temperature might slow down my dreams of a good topwater bite. I decided to give it a try anyway.
I tied on a Berkley Spin Rocket prop bait in shad color. The first cast I was waiting for the ripples to settle when all of a sudden, KABLOOSH! A nice 2 and a half pounder. I took that as a clue and worked the bait ultra slow with subtle twitches and long pauses. It worked perfectly! I ended up catching a bunch of solid fish including a 4-10, 4-9, and a nice 6-5. It was a blast.
I worked around the pond and caught 15 off topwater then switched up to a Texas rigged Yum Dinger. I caught 15 more on the worm but most of them were small.
Ended up stopping at #30. All smiles! It was a fun day.
