Title: New guy - Central NJ
Post by: GregN on January 11, 2023, 04:54:54 PM
Hi folks - new member here from Central NJ.  I primarily fish the freshwater lakes (LMB) near home as well as the Delaware River (SMB and shad).  Make a trip or two a year up to Champlain for the pre-spawn smallie bite, and try to fish the Adirondacks lakes as well.  I'm don't fish as much as I would like as I hunt quite a bit for whitetails/turkey and I'm ALWAY in training mode with my upland dogs.
I don't own a Dobyn's rod yet, but I think that's going to change soon!!

I run 2 of the more unusual breeds of versatile dogs.  I have a 9 year old Boykin Spaniel (FLUSHER), and a 2 year old Braque Francais (French pointer).

Your braque francais looks similar to a GSP, really nice.

Never heard of that spaniel and it's the state dog of SC and I'm from NC lol. Fluffy dog I hope it's coat doesn't tangle easily in the briars.

Welcome to UB Greg. Great looking dogs!

Champlain is my favorite lake I've ever fished. A club I used to fish with did a 2 day tourney there every other year mostly right around that smallie spawn.

Lots of Dobyns users here myself included so you'll get plenty of help there. The members here are always willing to help and share opinions on anything really.

Looking forward to seeing you around the boards and learning from your posts.

In the meantime if you need a hand with anything don't hesitate to reach out to me or any other staff member and we will do our best to get you pointed in the right direction.

Yes on both counts! Braques do look like GSPs, although smaller and not as high strung. Lily tops the scales at 39#.  Tobys velcro like coat does lead to trouble w burrs.. There is 1 type that if i see it, i will avoid that field all together.
Tx to all for the warm welcome.
