Title: Duckett and Dobyn rods
Post by: Masterbasser45 on June 14, 2022, 05:04:51 PM
Dobyn's Fury vs Duckett triad casting rod. Which is more sensitive?

Dobyn's Sierra vs Duckett Micro Magic pro. Which is more sensitive?

Perhaps we can talk about balance as well. I wanna preface the discussion I have majority Dobyn rods. I've used both brands.

I have only used the Docket original micro magic rods. I thought they were plenty sensitive. Only Issue I had with them was the front of the real seat scratched my fingers constantly.

The short answer is yes and yes.
Dobyns have more guides in both questions. Also more balanced in both.

Instead of Sierra try the Kaden if you want sensitivity, same price. The blanks are more sensitive. I really like the Sierra series for moving baits. But also use the  734 for weightless worms. The Kaden's I use primarily for bottom contact rods.

I can't really comment on the specific questions you have but I REALLY like my Dobyns champions. I have probably 12, maybe more. Every Dobyns I own balances very very nicely from the Sierra to the champion extremes. I also have a micro Magic pro which a very nice rod as well. I've had problems with Duckett rods falling apart in the past, eye inserts popping out, epoxy failing. But they do have a good warranty program, similar to Dobyns. I'm not brand loyal as no one is paying me or giving me free gear, but when I want a new rod I usually go with a Dobyns now.
