Title: 2021 08 21 Chickamauga TN River
Post by: coldfront on August 23, 2021, 08:19:39 AM
out Saturday before dawn (about 6:30 am EST here).  Cloudy, overcast with rain in forecast.  Light winds blowing UP lake (against current).  stayed out until about 4PM.  Love it when it rains and the pleasure boaters, jetskiers and wake-boarders stay in.  new FroggTogg rainwear worked great!

water clarity was stained (been raining a bit around here) with visibility anywhere from a foot to foot and half.  Hiwassee arm was pretty colored up as it normally is when it rains.  lots of farm ground run-off there.

water temps ranged from 78°F to 81°F depending upon where you were.  backs of creeks tended to be cooler.

found fish on bluff ends/tail-outs and main-lake ledges/weed-flats.  swimbait was by far most effective bait today.  a few on t-rigged plastic, but given need to cover water, the swimbait was the deal.

more schooling activity noted as shad continue to grow in size and the pods/schools are starting to consolidate a bit.
no studs were encountered but fish were there to be caught by grinding.  best of the day might have pushed 19 inches.
