I figured I ask here, before I call HB. My Helix 7 was just returned to me by HB for an unrelated electrical issue. I connected the unit, and went to power it on and nothing happened, the unit does not turn on. I doubled checked all the connections, fuse, loose wiring and still nothing.
I have a brand new fully charged, starting battery, and the console unit is working just fine.
Thoughts?
Tx in advance .
First painfully obvious question did you put a meter on your power source? Otherwise it looks like your unit will be making a return trip to Humminbird service.

I did, and there's power.
Looks like hummingbird messed it up... sucks.

Looks like it may be the unit. I checked for power going to the junction box, and for power to the power cables. Both places have electricity.
Just to make sure, you do have a full 12v.
Do you remember if there is a hard reboot for your hummingbird?
Something like push the power button and hold it while pushing another button?
Sounds like HB will need to help on this one.

I spoke with my dealer, and they told me to contact HB directly. HB will have better trouble shooting tips than what the dealer was able to provide.
Should be obvious, but may not be to some. The power cord plug is directional and can be forced into the back of the unit in the wrong position. Make sure the tab on the plug is facing UP when connecting. The unit will not work with reverse polarity.

Thank you for the input Wayne. What you posted makes sense, and the plug and play feature of these units make it simple to connect.
Called HB Tech support and they are shipping me a wall unit to plug my unit into and conduct a power test on the unit. If the unit works, the issue is from my end.
Update, wall plug arrived and unit did not power on. Called HB back, and they want to charge me a service fee to repair the unit, when I was told on my previous call that my unit was still covered. They are re-playing the previous call to verify that their rep told me my unit was still under warranty. SMH... the saga continues... lo lo
Update: Just got off the phone with HB, they confirmed on their playback, that their representative did tell me that my unit was covered on my previous call. HB sent me a return shipping label. I will keep you guys posted.
I'm surprised to hear about any kind of hassle with HB, they have always had great customer service. I understand a warranty doesn't last forever but they had their hands on it last....

Ha!! Fortunately I don't use the bow unit much, but when I do, it will help if it worked. Lol
Received word that the my unit arrived at HB's repair facility and HB is shipping back the unit already. :o :o The technician notes say that the circuit board has been repaired. I hope I can finally put this unit issue behind me.
You could always use a string with a knot tied every foot and 5 ounce weight to get it down. lo Couldn't resist, bad Oldfart. :(

They forgot to hook up something the last time they repaired it. :)

Unit is working now. Delivered last night, plugged it in the wall unit as soon as opened the box and viola the unit powered up.

This was not case. It was circuit board issue that HB took care of.
Good deal..Glad you are back in business.

I was just wondering how many knots would need to be 'tied in'? 3, maybe 4 max?
(good to hear you're back in business LOU!)
;D
Thanks guys, its good having everything functioning again.
Will be sending my unit back ,..not powering up . I also have a display power thing. Seems like the power switch is loose ,will not pop back out. $191.is a lot of money for service,...cheaper than buying a new one.
~rant Sent my Helix7 DI/Soner back twice already ,will be sending it back for the 3rd time next week. The first time ,would not power up. They fixed that, came back last week, tested it with display module.but... it was not showing anything ....white screen,.. NORMAL or SIMULATION setting. Will be calling them on Monday. They sent me a hat. which will not fix the problem. Maybe I should request a new Helix7 DI/Sonar unit.... may never happen .
