Title: Live well issue
Post by: Bass Dog on November 02, 2020, 05:55:28 PM
So I know the new line of trackers recycle the water in the live well when your off the water to keep the fish alive but mine does not, so I'm looking for options? While on the water it takes on water and the fish live great in the live well but when off the water I have to add a aerator to keep them alive till weigh in. When there is only one or two in there no real problem but five and something is not good for the fish in there. I was thinking of a small drain hole with a fitting in the bottom then off to a pump then back in the top to aerate the water.

Any ideas  :help:

Welcome to UB  ~c~

In my boat (although not a Tracker), my livewell has 3 pumps.

1) A pump in the tramson to fill the livewell
2) A pump at the very bottom of the livewell to pump out
3) And finally a pump near the bottom of the livewell with a hose back into the top of the livewell that simply recirculates the livewell water. I have this pump connected to a timer switch that recirculates water every 1, 3, or 7 minutes.

This system works extremely well and I have never had any issues at any time of year or length of time.

I have a heavy duty aerator connected to my trolling batteries.  I haven't lost a fish since I started using it, even in high 80 degrees water.  I also use Please Release Me imwhen I have fish in the box.

Thanks Bassinkorea, mine has only one pump for the live well and it pumps water in only. I have to put a pipe in the drain so it drains out water at a given level.

FD I was thinking of one but the one I got stopped working after a few trips out then died and hate to spend the money over and over just to keep it working.

You could use a drop in pump that moves the water around then put a longer hose on it for a pump out.
