So I've narrowed it down to the garmin 102sv and add the lake chip for mapping vs the helix 10msi plus with lake master chip. From playing with them the garmin is definitely easier to work and touch screen, while the helix 10 does give off a clearer image on side and down.
Not sure which mapping will be best but I'm told adding the garmin one I can adjust water levels and it will update to current conditions
Has anyone used both
I previously owned Garmin but now I cuttently have a H10. I like the H10 better but that is a personal preference
The Lakemaster Plus chip allows you to adjust water levels.
Ok so lakemaster does, did not know that.
I own Garmin Echo Echomaps and have owned a Helix. Garmin is without a doubt the most user friendly by far and you are correct about the water levels and Garmin. I was first attracted to Garmin for it superior mapping, I use Garmin's LakeVu G3 Ultra maps and the auto navigation feature a lot on unfamiliar water.
Like FD said, it all comes down to personal preference.

All the Lakemaster products have Water Level Offset, Depth Highlight, and Shallow Water Highlight for HD locations. Same with Auto Chart and Auto Chart Live.

Awesome thanks for info. Being a Humminbird user have a question for u. I have a small decked out 16ft bass boat. Plan is to get the helix 10 mount at console and spin it when I'm up front. I will eventually add another unit on bow. Or should I just get two helix 8 msi for relatively the same price as the 10.

You would be less likely to watch the display from the console while at the bow AND what is displayed will be a boat length away.
I have a small 16' Tracker and have anywhere from one to six units depending on the water I am on and if I am doing other than just fishing.
Basically the size of the boat is irrelevant, it's having the data convenient.
