Zippy said on Sunday that the Big O Reservoir was getting hot. He wasn't kidding. I went out yesterday afternoon to try my luck and caught 7.
Time 430 PM - 7 PM
Temp 55*
Water - I'm guessing low to mid 40's
Pretty windy and swirling
Visibility about 1 foot
Water is still high, but the outflow isn't as bad as last weekend
I took 3 rods and rigged them each differently. A spinnerbait, a football jig, and a texas rigged worm.
I fished the main road side and had all my luck there. I caught 7 total, 6 of which came on the spinnerbait, the other coming on a football jig. Every fish I caught had the bait completely sucked in the back of their throat. The females are full of eggs and they're getting ready to do their deal.
I noticed the bite started to die down once the sun started getting lower. That sun warming up the banks is so crucial this time of year.
Setups:
Spinnerbait was rigged on a Dobyns Champion 734c with a Bantam MGL. This rod is my go to spinnerbait rod. While this rod can do everything, I've fallen in love with it for spinnerbaits.
The football jig was rigged on a Dobyns Extreme 745c with a Bantam MGL. I think the fish were active and didn't want something slow on the bottom. The fish I did catch on this was small and it bit whenever I had to pop the bait up over either a rock or tree in the water.
The Texas rigged 9" Jelly worm was rigged on a GLoomis IMX Pro 863JWR with a Bantam MGL. I didn't have any luck on this, but I only made about a dozen casts with it on the far side of the lake (away from the main road).

Great report, thank you for posting...
That girl in the photo has been rubbing quite a bit the last couple days. If you all get a warming trend that warms the shallows, you're gonna have spawning bass.
Congrats on the catching and tks for sharing the trip report and picture with us also.
Congrats, thanks for sharing
Any day fishing, is a good day.
Thanks for the report and glad you listened to zippy and went out and fished his spots and caught his fish. lo lo

Haha, that's actually my own blood. She spined me pretty good and sliced my thumb up pretty good.
Oneida was slow today. Had to drag a senko to get bit. Caught 2 and had one break the 6 lb test on too hard of a hookset.
