Title: Fish with other UB members
Post by: zippyduck on March 07, 2020, 04:29:59 AM
I have had the pleasure of fishing with Smalliestalker, Princeton-man, BassinLou, fishballer, and the great Mike cork.
Each one has added to my fishing skills in one way or another. But also it has been on many different types of water, which has added to my fishing knowledge.
Make plans to fish with fellow members and you won't regret it.

I agree 100% Zip. I have fished with most of the FL gang.

And while they are not so much to look at, I learn something every time.

If you don't have pieces leftover, you didn't put it back together right...

I am going to plan a US / UB bass fishing tour sooner rather than later.

OOOOOHHH!!! Where we going?
We could start on Erie then head south toward Tennessee then toward Florida then a southern tour towards Texas with a few stops in between.

I'm certainly up for that route. I fished a bit in LA and on The Bend in 2018 and loved it, but was only there for one week, which was way too short.

Yes it is. I spent a week in Mike's neighborhood and fished three different bodies of water. It took a little to get used to those kind of lakes. I figured the one lake out on the next to last day.

This literally had me laughing out loud  lo lo

But I totally agree with Zip. I've personally fished with Zippy and BarryFL, as well as met most of the Florida gang. Everyone has been a stand up guy and I look forward to hopefully meeting more of you.

I'm an active member on quite a few other online forums and none of them have a community quite like this one. Kudos to all of you for making this place feel like a group of friends rather than just a forum.

Come on to Texas, but coordinate it with my time off.

Any day fishing, is a good day.

Although I have had invites from several members I have only gotten to fish with Zippy so far.

Zippy is a very humble guy. You all know that. I don't know what he could have possibly learned from me other than what NOT to do. But I learned a ton from him and just watching him fish is an educational experience. You can almost hear the wheels turning and the look in his eyes tells you he's always thinking and looking for clues.

nats had extended an invitation for me to take a bus up to his place and stay a couple of days to fish. The timing was unfortunately not right but I am hoping to meet him and fish with him sometime in the near future.

I would like to meet everybody and just shoot the breeze, eat some good food and maybe catch some fish in between.

Someday I will be able to make it to the G-Ville rally. That's now a bucket list item and at my age the bucket's not as deep as it used to be so..............

I'd also like to make it to one of the UBCS events at some point.

I've got a lot to learn still and I can't think of a better group of people to learn it from.

If I don't get to fish with you on this side of the sky then I will see you on the big lake on the other side.

You did good.  I've been fishing that lake for 30 years and haven't figured it out.
And, I live 5 miles from Mr. Cork and haven't fished with him yet! :)   But he has offered, seems timing is never right.

Steve it was a pleasure to finally get to meet you during your visit during that UBCS Event on The Bend.
That sure seems like a long time ago now  ~shade

I've had the opportunity to fish with a few UB members here in Texas.  Every now and then I'll make the trip to Louisiana and fish the Ultimate Bass Club Shootout Event with 'Lock Jaw' and TCTC.  It's always a great visit being around those guys and their families.

There's lots of great people that hang out here for sure  ~shade

I got a memory message today from my cloud photo storage that it was exactly 2 years ago to the day that I landed in Shreveport airport  :o

I got to fish with Mike at the last UB social and would love to fish with others.  It was a great learning experience and a great time, even if the fish weren't biting that well.

This is one of the topics I highly encourage. I made the conscious decision over 10 yrs ago, to get a little uncomfortable, and reach out and ask a fellow member to meet up and go fishing. I have been doing this ever since and I have had the great fortune to meet, fish, and hang out with many of our UB brethren. Great bunch of people and I have learned so much from each and everyone of them. As a matter of fact, I'm fishing with that very first member I met in person 10yrs ago  tonight in the swamp.  ~gator ~gator  :)

I'm pretty sure twocold is from northern part of Cali. Not sure where you are or how far you are willing to travel but maybe shoot him a PM.

Could be the start of a long fishing friendship.

I love going to isolated places like that and then say "So you're probably wondering why I brought you out here".  ~roflmao

Once the virus has a cure/vaccination I would really like to venture south of the Border :-))
& anyone interested in coming up to Gods country Canada I'd be more than happy to take them out.
Cheers & stay safe

I've got a cabin booked for my yearly trip to Ontario in early June, but it's not looking like that's going to happen.
