Title: N.E. Texas City Lake 10/04/19 Bass Fishing Report
Post by: SteveTX on October 04, 2019, 11:08:20 PM
Time of day: 7:30am to 12:00 noon
Weather conditions: Cloudy skies Wind NE varying up to 6 mph Shifting to E about 9am
Temperatures: Water temps were 80 deg. Air temp was low 70s rising to low 80s
Water color / clarity: Turbid / maybe 12" visibility

Started out a awesome morning. Thought I might get me some Hollow Body Frog catches. Sadly that effort ended with not even one attempt.

Seemed the fish are still timid about coming up for top water bites. Pretty rare Id get a sign of feeding. Finally found a couple of them feeding on shad. Ended up catching one at 8:13am on a SK Rage Craw was about 18"

At 8:57 I caught this 19 1/2" on the Ribbit Toad in the edges of some pads.

Right at 11am another 18" came on the Strike King Rage Tail Craw.

Had a little wildlife scenery as well.

Caught this 18 1/2" on the Ribbit Toad at the boat ramp waiting on a kayak to get her stuff loaded.

Pretty much a slow day. Was still very relaxing. Most of the bites I feel were really lethargic. Quite a few just dragging off the bait by the claws. Had to be patient and give them time to eat it. The toad bites were even 1/2 ass attempts for the most part. Kind a a 1/2 slurp and no 2nd attempts were made no matter how many times I tried to piss them off. Still a productive day.

Seems like your fish and mine are still in the summer funk. At least you stuck a few! The one at the boat ramp is classic. Spend all day trying to find them and there's one just waiting for you right back where you started. Sort of a good allegory for life in general!
