Title: Why so many rods?
Post by: zippyduck on August 05, 2019, 07:49:12 PM
Why so many rods? How many do you need?

I hear this from of course the little woman but also friends that don't bass fish. Always isn't one enough is thrown in there.

This weekend I proved why so many rods are needed. Now I don't have as many as some of you, well most of you. But I have a diverse collection to let me fish anyway that is needed.

So I fished Presque Isle park in Erie, Pa. and started on the last place I caught fish. I grabbed the Dc735cb glass and threw a squarebill on the rip-rap and caught one in the first few casts. I thought this is going to be fun. Well not another bite on the squarebill.
So I moved out a little to the weedline and plucked a decent fish with my LSCR MH/F and an underspin with a Lockett lures psycho shad. and missed one other. Not another sniff though.
So I moved to the duckweed and thick stuff. Frogging with Dc736 paid off with another decent fish. But just the one.
So I started to pitch the edges of the weeds with the DRX755c T-rigged with a Lockett lure Bush hawg and landed the best one of the day. and again no more bites on it.
So I moved out to a point and fished down it with a Lockett lure 4" tube on the DC744c and picked up another in about 10 fow. And again it seemed to be alone.
Finally I spotted one chasing bait and thought finally. I threw a whopper plopper 90 on the DC734c and got hit on the first cast and quickly got back in only to have no more action in the area.

I rotated between all of these rods all day and could not duplicate any of the bites. Thank goodness for all the rods or I may have missed many of those opportunities.

If you ever come to Presque Isle in the summer it always seems to be like this. Junk fish till your hearts content.
