Has anyone used a HydroWave device? Do they work? Are there pros and cons? I am completely uneducated on these things and wonder if they're too good to be true.
Yay!

Yay!
What can you tell me about them? Do they work better in certain temps or environments, like grass vs. docks and riprap, etc? Considering it for a Christmas present but want to be sure it's money well spent.

My apologies, I'm at work right now and no time to type.
I think I've see Bill Dance use one on his show before and some of the other guys also.

I know KVD is a big proponent of them but they're also one of his sponsors, so there's that. I've done some research and people seem to be more believers than non-believers in them, so may be worth trying out.
I use mine in the fall mainly, also turn it on very low when fishing shallow, no clue if it helps, but it damn sho don't hurt lo
They really do work, Ive seen some crazy things happen when they get turned on. But hey, you could just cheat with live shiners too. lo Oh, and senkos, those are cheating too. ~roflmao

Yes, it really can. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, you have to be around fish. :-*
Bamabass did one on his 300 gal aquarium and it was pretty solid nay imho. If it cant get a reaction out of 2 bass in 300 gallons of water it aint pulling fish in a lake to me.
Not saying things don't happen when its turned on but who's to say the fish weren't coming to that spot anyway? I have schools show up out of nowhere near my boat numerous times. ::)

I get my butt kicked every club tourney by a guy that uses one. Eight tourneys and 5 wins, 2 seconds, and a third. I say it works.

He doesn't use senkos. He loves his cranking. That Hydrowave really fires up the fish. He does know how to find them though.
YAY I believe they work won't leave the dock without it

Same with your senkos!!

Couple years ago, I took my boat out to SoHo with Bigwrench to kind of shadow him while he was breaking in his rebuilt motor, just in case. We did a little fishing as well. Rick was coming up behind me into the river with his Hydrowave on. Bass were swimming right past my boat towards his.
I'm convinced, Hydrowave will attract bass. Saw no evidence that they'll make 'em bite though.
I'd like to have one... just too many other things I need more. :)
I got one this spring and I'm a definite yah. Lots of settings to pick from but two stand out for me. Keep in mind I fish shallow a lot. The active pads setting has everything from frogs to splashing and if you are still slow and stealthy it will fire up bass in a pad feild. The other is bedding brim, I've fished through an area and nothing, turn around and go back through with the brim bed sounds on and it's a complete new area with activity and feeding bass.
Lastly, any of the Shad patterns will get the bait fish in the area moving. I've had huge balls of Shad following the boat, turn it off and they leave. What this means idk, bass aren't busting Shad on the side of the boat? But overall the area seems more active.
Finally like Lee said, it doesn't hurt. If nothing else it's covering up the trolling motor and sonar pings.
It's amazing that so many people on here use it, and I had never even heard of it. Doesn't get much marketing or advertisement I guess.

If you watch Scott Martin on YouTube, he uses it a lot.

Okay, think I'm going to give it a shot (I'll start with the mini).
Will report back after Christmas on how well it works or doesn't (it's going to be given as a Christmas present).
The ones I have seen on TV all had the $400 version. I wanted to try out the $100 version but money has been tight. I have not heard much about the cheaper one but know the bigger one does more and that is what I have seen the big boys with, of course. Looking forward to trying it out, especially at some of the reservoirs I fish.
I've seen Timmy Horton on his show, show how to use them and do the settings for different things. It did seem to make a difference when he had it on VS off.
Sounds like Mike has it figured out for his area.
It is what it is, another TOOL you can use.
Got the HydroWave mini to try out (has two settings - frenzied shad and passive shad), so will definitely report back on how well it works! It's a Christmas present so report won't be till end of year though. ;)

Please do.
I saw the mini on sale somewhere but I'm too tight. Oh wait broke I mean. lo
