Title: New smoker.
Post by: Oldfart9999 on June 28, 2017, 06:27:43 AM
My old smoker died last year and we were without good smoked food the rest of the year. :( :'( This year we planned on buying a new electric smoker but shoulder issues got in the way but I held on to the idea. Last week I went to Home Depot and picked up a MASTERBUILT 30 inch PRO smoker with stand. I don't know what the recommended price is but HD had it for 299$ with stand. With one arm it was interesting but I got it out of the truck onto a cart and got out back, unboxed it put it upside down and installed the stand, it took less than an hour with one arm. lo Following the instructions I seasoned it and found the meat probe was defective, since we have an electric probe I did our first meal with it Sunday, my wife made 2 meatloafs, 1 same recipe as her meatballs the other her "American" way. Using cherry chips and setting the temp at 225 they were done in about an hour and a half. They came out great!!!!!
After registering the unit I called to tell them about the meat probe, I'll have a new one by the end of the week, I don't think they could do any better than that unless they came and replaced it themselves! I would highly recommend MASTERBUILT  products!!
This unit is a digital, bluetooth unit, I may get the app for using my phone, it would mean I have a remote I can make calls with. lo

Glad you liked your smoker and I know you will put it to good use and that meatloaf sounds yummy. So you got one of them fancy ones that you can call up and tell it what to do  lo

I'm sure you will enjoy it for many years. I bought a different brand about 15 years ago and it still does a good job. A good smoker will last a long time.
