well ol dad and i decided to take a trout fishing trip this year for a few days. the trout were biting and i got to spend some time with dad and i also got a little fly fishing in.we brought some home and released the rest.

the daily limit per angler is 7 a day. we brought back 14. we decided we would catch and release on the last day.

i decided to peel the skin off the ones we fried and imo it improved the taste.

Where were you fishing?
When I lived out west, I loved hitting the mountains in the summer to cool off and do some trout fishing in the streams. Very enjoyable. Since moving to Louisiana, those are days long gone. Thought about heading up to Ar. but don't know where to play?

The true saltwater species we see around here are called Sand Trout, and I have found that skinning them before cooking is the only way to go. Trout are also the first fish we eat, the fresher the better. They don't seem to freeze as well as other fish so we feast on the bounty right away.
Speckled trout that everybody chases around here is actually a member of the drum family.

we have a really good trout fishery just below dale hollow dam in the obey river tail waters.

yeah they are definitely better tasting fresh but rainbows seem to fair being froze fairly well
