Title: Shimano Reel Question
Post by: scbassfanatic on March 16, 2016, 07:54:24 AM
I am not a Shimano guy by any means and I need to know if this is a good deal or not, so I am hoping my UB family can provide some information for me. I have the opportunity to by a Curado 200E5 for 60.00 and a Citica 100 DSV (he has 3 of these) for 40.00. The seller says the Curado is in "mint condition" and the Citica has some boat rash. Both have "Bantam" on them. Thoughts?

I would buy them at those prices. If still in good shape, I think you are getting a good deal.

In the last couple years of progression, the E model Curado has become the wanted version in my circles. The models after it are made in Malaysia and anglers are complaining about durability (I haven't really seen it) The latest version, the I model, is a problem child with most anglers as it commonly makes noise when casting...

So an E model at that price is outstanding and you could flip them and make a profit if you decide you don't like them.

Thanks to all, anything in particular I should look for, or just normal feel for bearing and gear wear? I am meeting him this afternoon to look at the Curado. The Citicas may be sold.

Just get it anyway. Gears are cheap, so are bearings.

Yeah man, for example a greenie 50e is on the bay for 225 right now. There are two 200e5 lightly used with 10 bids at around 100 and two 200e7 going around 170s all with time left on the clock. That reel is it is as good as he says can easily double your money. Not many people sell them though that is why they are up there in price.

Speaking of all this... I want to upgrade my green 200E6 to a 7 gear ratio. What gears do I need? Where can I find them?

Once LMG tells you what you need, look at ereplacement parts and get what you need also I  Japan Tackle sells some shimano gear sets for around 40 bucks and check The Tackle Trap, they might too.

Well the seller sold the reel to another buyer out from under me.  >:D The first time I have ever attempted to buy from an individual from one of those FB pages. Oh well. Live and learn I suppose.

Sorry to hear that. Well if he sold it for 60 bucks at least you have the peace of mind the seller shorted himself out of some  cash  lo

Seller list out of it wasn't in as good of shape and he knew he'd get called on it.

Keep looking, there are deals out there for the digger.
