I have a 98 gambler. can anyone tell me what color wires go where on the auto/manual aerator switch?

It's been years since I played with a Gambler.... I can't even remember which colors are there?
there's a red wire from the timer (?), a purple that comes from the timer that is joined to an orange from the left aerator switch breaker (that's linked to the right aerator switch breaker, a black from somewhere and an orange from the auto/manual breaker. the auto/manual switch which I just replaced is a six pole switch. none of the wires were connected when I opened up the panel and found the broken switch. seems I should be able to figure it out but every way I connect it does nothing or heats up and trips breaker.
When I draw this out I don't understand the black wire " a black from somewhere "
This could be your power wire. Is there a different switch in the system, maybe one that someone else installed?
What if you just take the black wire out of the equation. Isolate it and see if you still get the problems.
I don't know if the black wire goes to it or not, it is bundled with other wires from the rear. there are two other loose wires (red and black) but they have a round connector so i don't think they are relavent. the original wire descriptions are all flat connectors. all of the switches are six pole switches and the broken one is a six pole so that is what i replaced it with. i know that the pumps have brown and black wires. i wired straight to each pump with a 12 volt and both pumps work. I will try and trace down the black wire and also try without.
First check it to see if there is voltage on it?
Sounds like you need to pull out a multimeter and map it out
finally figured it out. black wire was the key. everything works now.
