Title: Fishing report for Pomme de Terre 5/3/2014
Post by: PCat78 on May 05, 2014, 06:08:45 AM
Water temps: 58-62
Clarity: Clean towards the dam; Stained down both rivers
Air temps: High 70's

Fished at the dam to start with no luck, so we decided to run down the Lindley arm. Once arriving to our spot I made 2 casts with a Zoom brush hog into a section on standing timber and pulled in our first 2 keepers of the day. This pattern continued until about noon for me then my partner started his run of pulling fish in using a Netbait Mad paca and culled out 2. All in all for us it was a tough bite but we managed to squeak out 8.10 and take 5th. All reports from other members of the club seemed about the same, mainly those who caught fish used plastic creature baits that all contained purple. Some of the early bites from some were jerk baits and jigs.

Thanks for the report.

I used to love Pommey, I don't get to fish it anymore though.  :'(

I don't get a chance to fish it as much as I'd like to but it is by far my favorite Missouri lake.

I was surprised how clear the water on the north end was. All the fish we caught bit in 10-12ft, and were all males. The winning teams were able to get that female kicker fish. Pomme is becoming my favorite lake, I do love Truman though.

I've fished them all. Everyone has their favorite lake. Some lakes I like for their beauty as well as the fishing. My ranking:
Stockton
Pomme
Table Rock
Truman
LOZ
Stockton is one of the few lakes where I can catch LM, SM, and Walleyes. Plus, it is a pretty lake, particularly in the fall. LOZ is a tremendous bass lake but dangerous. I have a place at LOZ but usually fish between the Gravois and the Glaize. Lots of time around the Lodge and Chimney Cove.

I agree with LOZ being dangerous. They should have limited the size of boats allowed on the water a long time ago IMO. Now it seems like there is a competition to see who can get the fastest and biggest boat on the water each year. Again this is only my opinion

You win! The newest bad boy on the lake this year is a 68' Predator cruiser. There were pictures in the local paper. I don't want to be on the water when this boat is in the channel.

GOOD LORD!!!  :shocking: That is insane!!! When you need to have side thrusts to dock a boat I believe you have gone a little over board
