Just wanted to warn everyone that our roads, especially bridges are starting to ice over. Shreveport is already starting to close some of the bigger bridges but said they ALL are getting icy.
Just a quick warning for everyone getting out this evening or heading to work in the morning!
Thanks BA. Just watching the ticker across the bottom of the TV...I-220 is closed and I-20 is closed in Bossier from Industrial to the Red River Bridge. Not sounding like it is going to be much fun heading out in the morning. Everyone please be careful.
Hey Mike, I bet you have the boat hooked up and ready to go. I know how much you love to fish in cold weather. :roll2:
Roads icing over in Louisiana, insain. :'(
Oh yeah...seriously thinking about doing some night fishing tonight. ~roflmao
Seriously, right now it is 29 outside with a pretty good misting rain. Not sure how much it is supposed to drop in temps overnight but it looks like the misting rain is going to continue. I'm going to rethink the workout in the morning...might be a bit tricky at 4:30 a.m.
Yea, they are steadily closing the roads! The sand crews were caught off gaurd tonight since this wasn't expected. Shreveport & Bossier City are both working lots of wrecks on the interstates.
Mike, maybe you should just run a few laps around your house & call it a workout. Everyone should definately stay put unless they absolutely have to get out.
That is just too cold for Louisiana. Hopefully we don't have much of this left.
Yep Dusty just called, traffic is all tied up and not moving on Airline. Idiots just do not know how to drive. I now have 2 teenagers on the bossier side of the river with all the bridges closed. Anybody got any ideas
papa
I don't think it is going to get any better during the night. The latest now is that 220 and 20 are both open but moving very slowly. I'm not sure I would chance it trying to get across one of the rivers. Tough decision for this time of night and the conditions.
They just got over Jimmy davis, Now Vicki is over by Home Depot on on But Kouns where you get on I-49. She is coming from a bowling tournamemt in Baton rouge. Looks like a long night.
papa
Well Vicki just called and she got over the jimmie Davis bridge also. ~c~ Now I am going to hold my breath till they get home.
papa
Good luck Papa. I hope they make it home safely.
Thanks Mike :)
The latest on the TV is that all bridges coming into Bossier City...I-20, Shreveport-Barksdale, and Jimmy Davis are now closed. Looks like they made it just in time Papa.
Bossier police are asking folks to remain at home.
great, im stuck at work... ~xyz
we were told that texas might be open around 2300.. im still at work
Well that is the pits Railroader. Get paid overtime?
yeah, but they can only keep me till 0245
Well all of my family just got home
thank goodness I bought had another heartattack.
papa
That is great Papa...please, no more heart attacks.
Still nasty outside this morning...interstates closed or moving at a snail's place and a good bit of ice out there. Everyone here please be careful. I think I'll spend the day in the house.
papa glad they made it home safe ~sweat ~c~ ~c~ All of ya'll be carefule down there. i don't mind driving in the snow but never did like ice skateing :'( :'(
I just wanted to say i had fun going home at 0300 in the morning.. on my way home going down hearn to N market you have to pass over a bridge and the car in front of me was sliding around did a 360 and off in the ditch it went what a sight to see..i drove home in 4H and had no problems..
I'm glade everyone made it home safe and sound ~c~ Boy I sure would hate to see the locals here try & drive in MN during the winter, :-[ I could have made a ton of cash working the roads pulling folks out of the ditch. lo But figured I don't charge anyone anyway so I just stayed in the house nice and warm.
My Parents said it was -16 this weekend and snowing like crazy, even when it gets nasty here I still like the south better. :)
