Title: Looking at a few Tritons
Post by: Magnum164 on July 15, 2013, 08:47:54 PM
I have been looking at Skeeters, but have some money now to make a significant downpayment and am considering going 20ft or more as this will really be my retirement boat.

I ran across two tritons a 2008 TR20 Dual Console w a 250 ProXS Merc and a 2007 TR-21X HP SC with a 225 ProXS Merc I believe the 2007 is a 21ft and the 2008 is a 20ft.

I don't much about the boats (going to look this weekend), but the 2007 is a little more and honestly looks in better shape, but for the 2008 its just the carpet looks faded.

Anyone know the differences in the boats and performance between the 225 and the 250? Any thoughts on top speed between the boats? I assume the 225 is plenty of motor for the 2007 21ft even though rated for 250. Not sure 25hp is an issue, might save some gas:)

I just sold my 2008 20hp dual console with a 250; a friend of mine has a 2007 with a 225. They were very close performance wise. My new boat is a 21 footer and is virtually identical as far as space goes. I would base your decision on condition and whether you want a single or dual console. Both are great boats

Thanks, not sure where my other post went. But I figured both boats were close. However, I decided to make an offer on a new 2012 boat, not a Triton. Will see if that does not go through, I can always come back to the Tritons they have.
