Title: Tourney Special TSP10HC adjustment
Post by: Psychophreak on June 08, 2013, 11:53:55 AM
Just purchased a Tourney Special TSP10HC reel and cannot remove palm side panel.  I toggle the small lever but am unable to 'pop' or slide the panel off.  I have the schematics in hand but does not inform me on how to adjust the brakes from the inside of reel.  I've contacted BassPro but was given the online site of the schematics which I already have.  I've searched the inter'tweb' for youtube videos on how to remove panel but none were found.   :help:
I'm not new to baitcasting reels but has been over a DECADE since I last fished for anything and this reel intrigued me with the micro-adjusments.  Any help on how to remove the panel would be greatly appreciated.

the side plate should turn counter clockwise (if you looking at that side) about a quarter of an inch and then will pop right off

Thank you for the information.  I had to use Channel Locks to twist panel.  Should not require that much effort to remove it.

Thanks again.

I have one of the newer tourney specials and mine was a bear to get off also. I set mine to two brakes and haven't messed with it since. It seems to have good magnetic brakes also. Not a bad reel for $50.00.

Did you loosen the cast tension knob first? If not, the tension setting probably had the side cover tabs in a bind. Also, put a dab of grease on the sidecover tabs and the slots in the frame so it will slide open easier next time. Always loosen that tension knob before opening side covers.
