Title: Skeeter Bass Fueling problem
Post by: redfish006 on January 20, 2013, 03:23:59 PM
i am having a problem fueling my boat. It takes 30 minutes to put 10 gallons of fuel in boat. The boat stops taking fuel at 3/4 full. Only the fill neck takes fuel and holds the fuel for hours. Tried holding vent lines above main fuel intake line and below line too. Tried pouring fuel from a 6 gal can and it took 20 minutes to empty into fuel intake line. Boat is kept indoors under a cover and fuel air vent looks clear

You have some kind of boat/vent problem. My zx190 two tanks takes gas from a can as fast as I can poor it. What kind of skeeter what year?

In 2000 I had a new Sprint and my buddy purhcased the exact same boat.  We had the exact same problems you are having.  His was not as bad as mine.  He took two 2x6's and screwed them together, then would drive his trailer on them at the pump, just enoughh lift to make the  gas go in and worked like a charm.

My boat was a pain in the a$$.  I tried his solution but wouldnt work.  I then pulled the entire back deck apart to find the main fuel fill line was shaped like an elbow.  Hence the gas would back up in there and it would be a slow go to refil.  So I basically just cut out the slack and re-attached.  Worked great from then on, but man what a pain in the butt.

Hope that works!

Took boat back to dealer. They found an intrusion between tank out vent and filter that goes to overboard air vent. removed it and tank fills ups required. thanks for all help
