Fished Caddo two nights ago. Started right at dark and had an absolute ball on spinnerbaits and large worms until about 1 am then it shut off like a switch. Didn't do much running around because of all the rain and t-storm cells but we didn't get to wet and the fishing was awsome........

The bite was on yesterday as well Mike .I caught twelve fish between 3pm and 5:30 pm..The lightning ran me off early so I think I could have managed several more fish before dark .I had one over (4.43lbs),2 in slot and the rest under .

The bite on Caddo has been pretty good for a while now there are lots of good fish in the pads up North and Trey and I have been catching some good fish late in the evenings on Flukes fished in the pads .

Take your kids"HAWG HAULIN"  and save some for seed

Weedless baits in the pads are catching a few really good fish early and late. Other than that it seems to be a matter of hitting as many trees as you can in all kinds of water. I have heard 2-3 ft and I have also heard 6 ft. So pick your favorite spot and cover water. Large tubes and large worms are doing the trick for the most part. The night bite is coming on real strong also. I found a really good spinner bait bite the other day and had a ball, mostly slot fish but I had 3 overs to 5#.

Another 20 plus fish day on Caddo Saturday... The fish were a little slow for us during the morning but turned on pretty good after lunch. Between 2pm and 3 pm my partner  gave me a carolina rig lesson and boated a 4 pounder,a 6+ pounder and a couple of slot fish. The fish were caught about 8 ft deep in  brush .

Mike Cork

Chris, You really seem to be doing well on Caddo during the day light hours. Do you mind giving up a structure type that is working for you. Meaning are you working docks, slough channels, trees? Just curious. Thanks

Vicki and I found a nice Bed of Bream today ;D caught 55 between 12 and 4 some really good ones mostly Blugill with a few Red ears mixed in.slough in Jeems , point with shade in about 2 ft.

Chris

Mike , Sloughs and a select few points with brush . The bigger fish definitely were in the thicker stuff. As soon as we would drag the carolina rig over it (brush)we would get bit .

Mike Cork

Chris,

Sounds like you have a few (select) personal brush piles  :-X I need to get busy and plant some extra habitat for myself. Thanks for the info, just one more question though do you fish in the Jeems or the main lake mostly.

Fished Caddo Fri night from 7:30 - 6:00 and caught 2 fish. The company was great, the bugs weren't bad, the temperature was comfortable, but the fishing sucked. Although we haven't sent much time on the water after dark, we fished hard and couldn't get anything to work. Oh well, I'll just have to send more nights on the water. ;) ;)

I went fishing on Caddo last Saturday.  Caught some quality fish in Tar Island Slough.  4.75 # came off a Zoom trick worm in bright red.  Two more fish bit a Terminator spinnerbait in Chatruse and White with silver and gold willow leaf blades, both over 3#'s.  I was fishing the trees and the lilly pads on the South side of the Slough, right near the boat road.  I had another fish bite a Carolina Rig thrown right down the boat road where the channel is.  Frogs in white and also white and chartruce have been getting some bites from the pads as well.  The key is to find the pads and trees that are near some grass!

Fished Caddo last night. Fishing was a little tough we only caught a dozen or so all on spinnerbaits and worms pitched to pads with grass. Nothing real big but slot fish sure are fun when you don't have to weigh them in.......

Guess Robbie and I should have gone with you, we went this morning and had to fight for every bite. Seemed to have shut off shortly after daylight .
OH WELL WE WERE FISHING!!!

Darn, I hate I missed the action.  Like you said....at least you were fishing.  I was washing the tahoe, dri-washing the nitro, changiing line on reels, and hanging out in the pool.

Mike Cork

Well I know that when you are self employed your boss is the worse than working for a company or organization, but you have to admit living so close to caddo is a good thing. So how is lake Papa coming along.......

Well we were having so much trouble getting a Bream population going that we had to catch a bunch of the Bass out. But in the last Month we have put over 100 adult Bream in so we should be OK now. Now I am going to wait till spring to put anymore Bass in, unless someone catches a real "HAWG" and wants to put it in. HAHA

Mike Cork

sounds like you are going to have a real honey hole there before long. I think we are going to have to go to live well checks before the tourneys ;D

Gabby

papa,

Steve & I will be hitting Caddo tonight, so we should have at least 5 Lunkers for you to put in.  We will give a full fishing report of our success - right Steve?

A couple of weeks ago we decided to cull some Bass so Trey and Dusty got some gold fish to use for bait. They caught about 15 or so with the biggest five going 26 lbs on my digital scales. we took every Bass under 18 inches that we caught out and had a fish fry. according to my records, give or take a few that may have died or just won't bite there should be about 18 to 20 Bass left with 10 to 12 of those over 4 lbs. 2 over 7 and 1 over 8, Of course those are cool weather weights for the most part, so I am sure they are high for this time of year. But if anyone catches a 5 or better and wants to put her in the "LAKE" you are welcome. Also any  Bream. My goal is to raise a 1 lb. Bream and a 10 lb. Bass!

Gabby

Well, Steve and I had a great time last night fishing Caddo.  Didn't have much luck, but Steve caught a couple nice fish - including a FAT 4-5 pounder.  What a boat, Steve!  Had a great time, and look forward to fishing with you again (hopefully sooner than later!).

My wife is talking to me again already!!!:)

Like Gabby said, fished Caddo last nite, got there about 7:20, ran to Tucker area, fished top water and buzz baits, no luck, not even a roll, a lot of shad schools but nothing eating them.  Moved to the Jackson Arm area and fished until about 11pm covered a lot of water, threw blades, buzzers, chuggers, walkers, squirmers, kitchen sinks, hogs, jitters, widows, gators, babys, pups, NO luck!!  moved to johnson ranch area and gvt ditch area, threw all of the above, no luck, not even a "was that a bite ??? "  Finally managed 2 fish almost back to back on a 12" squirmer, red shad, in the main river, then nothing.  I did have 2 fish get my "cricket" but they were probably tight eyes.  Quit at 1am, did not want Gabby to get in too much trouble with his spousal unit since she is due in Sept to present the earth with a mini-Gabby.

Hope I did not sour Gabby on bass fishing in general, I told him he was fishing with the "curse".  His enthusiasim for the sport is matched only by his eagerness to learn, but one trip with the "curse" can shatter anyone's confidence  ;D  ;D

See ya in the funny papers
