Bert Thompson of Benton, La., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 27 pounds, 13 ounces Friday to lead day one of the EverStart Series Texas Division event presented by Evinrude on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Thompson holds a 5-pound, 15-ounce lead going into the final day of competition.
Wednesday’s opening day of competition was cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions. The event was reformatted to two days of competition where the full fields of both pros and co-anglers fish both Friday and Saturday. The winners of each field will be decided by two-day cumulative weights. Anglers will take off at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Umphrey Family Pavilion in Sam Rayburn, Texas, and the final weigh-in on Saturday will be at the Umphrey Family Pavilion at 3 p.m.
