Anglers’ Legacy program continues to gain momentum from a new BoatU.S. partnership, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced today. BoatU.S., the nation’s largest association of recreational and fishing boat owners, will utilize online Web banners, print public service announcements (PSAs) and their member newsletters to help promote Anglers’ Legacy, a program that encourages avid boaters and anglers to introduce someone new to the sport. In addition, BoatU.S. Angler, a program that offers benefits and services geared specifically toward anglers, will offer a discounted membership to Ambassadors this year.
“BoatU.S. and BoatU.S. Angler have been strong supporters of Anglers’ Legacy and we are happy about this renewed commitment to the program,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The promotion will help to bring new boaters and anglers into the program, which contributes to critical conservation efforts through the sale of fishing tackle, motor boat supplies and fishing licenses.”
BoatU.S. expects to generate 1,000 new Ambassadors over the coming year by carrying the Anglers’ Legacy message in their publications and on their Web site. In addition, Anglers’ Legacy Ambassadors will be offered a special discounted membership from BoatU.S. Angler, a 35 percent savings, and the first 50 to sign up will receive a free set of fishing pliers.
“Bringing in new anglers and boaters is crucial for the future of our industry,” said BoatU.S. Angler Program Director Mike Pellerin. “Through this partnership with the Anglers’ Legacy program we can not only help attract new participants, we can also provide them with a great deal of information; everything from the first steps of buying a boat, how to be safe on the water, to great fishing and boating tips from the various experts that we have available.”
Anglers’ Legacy, a program aimed at increasing first-time boating and fishing experiences, has signed on more than 175,000 Ambassadors nationwide since its inception in May 2006. Based on a recent RBFF survey, Ambassadors purchase approximately $140 in fishing tackle and equipment, $153 in boating supplies and accessories, and more than three fishing licenses which support critical fish and wildlife management efforts through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
