Welcome to Ultimate Bass; my name is Kevin Oleen, also known as Swede here on the forum. I grew up in central Minnesota, graduating from Blaine H.S. in 1985. I spent my next 4 years at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, CO playing football, rugby and getting my degree. After graduating from the USAF Academy, I attended pilot training and have spent the better part of my 17 year USAF career flying different variations of the C-130 in Florida and Okinawa, Japan. I have been married to my beautiful wife Wendy now for 10 years and we have a healthy and active 6 year old daughter. We have been active in the real estate market here in Florida and have picked up an AMSOIL dealership which we intend to grow in the future.
Home Lake: Lake Seminole
Days on the Water: 60-90
Years of Fishing Experience: 30+
I can’t remember not fishing – it was introduced to me by my parents at a very young age. I started out like most kids, fishing for sunfish and crappies, and gradually added bigger fish species into my creel. It wasn’t until I came to Florida in 1991 that I really got into bass fishing. My first boat was a 13.5 ft Kennedy Craft with a 15hp Evinrude outboard motor. I gradually increased my tackle selection and learned how to put a few of them lively creatures into the live well. In 1997 I upgraded my boat to a 17ft Nitro and in 2004 I upgraded once again to a 2000 Nitro 911CDC which I fish out of today. When not on the water and juggling family and work, I enjoy being right here with the members of Ultimate Bass. What I learn right here is very applicable to my tournament fishing and I consider you…all very much…Friends!!!
I have been tournament fishing for the past 7 years and thoroughly enjoy every aspect. I fish with my local bass club (Miracle Strip Bass Club) once per month and fish other local, state, and regional tournaments as my military schedule permits. One of my tournament fishing highlights was making the Florida State Federation Team in 2004 and helping Florida win its first ever Southern Divisional championship on Lake Okeechobee in 2005.
