Schroeder signs with McKendree

LEBANON, Ill.- McKendree University bass fishing coach Jon Rinderer has announced that Trey Schroeder of Crestwood, Mo., has signed to compete with the Bearcats’ program in 2018-19.

“We are so excited to sign Trey,” said Rinderer. “He is an outstanding angler and a terrific young man. Trey has a long list of accomplishments that include a wide range of water conditions, and he also has outstanding leadership qualities.”

Rinderer noted that Schroeder’s leadership skills helped convince the administration at Lindbergh High School to let him start a fishing program on campus. He organized the program and encouraged younger anglers to join. According to Rinderer, Schroeder also organized tournaments and trips to local lakes for the group (which is up to 45 members) to learn more about the sport of bass fishing.

As an angler Schroeder has competed in over 50 tournaments. The list includes: BFL, Bassmaster, FLW, TBF, Teen Angler, the Missouri State Championships and World Finals tournaments. During these tournaments he had multiple top-five finishes, including a Missouri state championship as a freshman. In 2017 as a co-angler in the BFL Lake of the Ozarks Division, Schroeder finished the points race in second place overall.

In 2016 Schroeder was given one of the highest awards in high school bass fishing when he was selected as one of only 12 anglers from across the country to be a member of the Bassmaster All-America team.

“Trey is very passionate about the sport of bass fishing,” continued Rinderer. “His character, leadership qualities and all-around good nature will make him an outstanding new addition to our McKendree team and family.”

Trey Schroeder is the son of Troy and Debbie Schroeder from Crestwood, Mo.
