Typhoon Pro Wesley Strader Seeing 20/20 in Florida

Kissimmee, Fla – So you think you can wear any sunglasses? Don’t tell Typhoon Pro Wesley Strader that. Strader has 45,000 reasons to believe having high quality sunglasses, and the rightlens for the conditions makes a difference. That’s because Strader won a $45,000 boat this past weekend on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Florida mostly because of his keen on the water vision aided by the right lens by Typhoon Polarized sunglasses.

It was after 11:00 on the first day of the Bassmaster Open tournament and Strader didn’thave a single fish in the boat. We’ve all been there, things didn’t go as we hoped in the early hours of the first day, in the first event of the year. Needless to say, it wasn’t the start of the season he wanted, but then it happened.

As Strader fished across a shallow area he was able to see fish. He said, “I saw two fish there during practice, but the place had loaded up.”

The perfect cross between good timing and foreword thinking put Strader in the right spot – having great on-the-water vision gave Strader the advantage he needed to turn a miserable day into the start of an incredible weekend. I wear the Typhoon Aloha frames, but the key is the Copper Rose lens. That lens in tannic water is fantastic.”

Now Strader knew the fish were there, “and they were the right fish”, said Strader. From there, all he had to do was figure out how to get them in the boat. Strader used a mix of Zoom soft-plastics the first day, which included a watermelon colored Zoom Super Fluke and a white Speed Craw rigged on Reins Tungsten weights. On day two, Strader used a homemade bladed jig and a ZoomSuper Fluke. On the final day, Strader he used the bladed jig and a Old School Balsa Bait Company Twin Spin topwater bait.

For his rods and reels, Strader used a selection of Powell Rods and Lew’s reels for the duration of the tournament.

When Strader competes in the final two BASS Open events in this region, which he is registered for, he will qualify to fish the 2017 Bassmaster Classic.
