Boat: 2010 Bass Tracker pro team 175 txw
Trolling motor: Minn Kota 71 Maxxum 24V bow mount with foot pedal.
Fish Finder: Humminbird 596c HD DI

Did lots of searching but couldn't find an exact answer to my questions.

I bought this unit yesterday and will install unit on console and transducer on transom. obviously i will use this setup while driving with the big motor. Then when on the trolling motor and fishing i would like to be able to disconnect the Unit from console mount and unplug then bring to front, mount and plug in. I'm considering buying Humminbird's XTM 9 DI 25 T trolling motor transducer,  http://store.humminbird.com/products/488349/XTM_9_DI_25_T
a ram mount and Humminbird's MBCC M connector collector all to be able to plug in at the bow mount. http://store.humminbird.com/products/322977?product_id=0304e8db453a8cb7e9cb785f93ff3082

I realize this would be annoying constantly changing from console mount to bow mount, but with the water i fish it will likely only move a couple times.

But, i'm getting ahead of myself, Has this been done successfully before? It seems like it should be possible but i have a feeling i might have overlooked something obvious.

Also, Has anyone installed a like transducer on a Minn Kota Maxxum? The skeg below the gear housing looks like it could interfere?

Thanks for your help!

I did just that with a Humminbird 798ci SI for a year.

You will need a MSM base which comes with the cable collector. I didn't use the RAM mount at either location, just the quick disconnect mount.
You will need another power cord, I recommend the PC-11 for the trolling motor application. It has a built-in choke that you may need anyway.

The transducer you listed is not available yet that I have heard of with no announced availability date. You can wait until that is available or get another transom transducer (the only one available) and adapt it to the trolling motor.

If you use the RAM mount system, you still have to remove the display from the quick disconnect mount to move it. It takes less than 10 seconds to switch display locations. Just push the quick release button on the back of the display, pull it off the mount and snap it on the other mount.

I am not familiar with that motor or its limitations for a transducer being mounted on it.

Thanks for the help!

im going to call humminbird tomorrow to find out when this trolling motor transducer is available.

good to know i wont need a ram mount and can use humminbird's mount and it comes with cable collector.

Did you connect the pc 11 wires to an additional length of wires and run them back to the cranking battery at back of boat or tap into pos and neg wires somewhere in the bow? i see the pc 11 wires are only 6 ft in length.

I installed a separate circuit to the battery for each of my Side Imaging units with marine grade 12 guage wire.
I did connect the power cord to the spare wires at the bow to test the quality of the boat wiring harness--too much voltage drop to not cause issues.

All the Humminbird power cords are 6'.

I had a 798SI on my last boat with transom Transducer and ram mount on console and ram ball at front of boat, just undid unit from ram ball and remounted on front ball. Did have to splice in some wire to get enough to reach both places, but it was not a problem. put wire in a flex race like rod protectors and coil up by mount when on console and lay out on edge of deck when up front.

i was thinking of doing something similar to you oldjim. seems alot easier to do it your way than fishing the wires down the inside of the starboard side to the console.
thanks for the tip
