I thought about this as I have the same year boat.  Be advised that the rod tubes run to the bow.  If you were to use the recessed tray you will loose about 3 of the top rod tubes.  Use a tape measure to determine how much tube is still usable and how you use the rod locker.

yes I put one in on mine. 08 175txw. Best thing i did.

Yes i did put one in last year. No you will not loose you tubes for holding your rods. It will flex them a bit but wont hurt at all. rods still slide right in and out. You want to buy a comfort troll one. It looks 100 times better than the others from the fabrication stand point. the welds are clean bends are smoothe and the powder coating is perfect. This will look like it came factory in the boat. If you want I can send you a picture later today. Luckily my father in law bought this boat from me and lives 2 doors down. Anyway super easy to do. pull floor out just for safety to not puncture any wires or anything. cut strap on rod tubes holding them to floor. tray comes with a layout pattern so figure out where you want it staple pattern down and cut it out with jigsaw. screw tray in and screw floor back in boat. we did mine in like um less than 2 hours. It will be one of the best things you add to the boat.

The tray will just put a slight bow in the tube for those of you concerned with that. But as you all know rods bend to and wil slide right through.

Thanks for the info ! Pics would be great if is not to much trouble. Just a little nervous cutting a hole in the floor, but I know it will do my back good.

i will get a couple on here later today. it saves your back for sure. they provide you a template and it fits like a glove.

Cool!!!!! You will love it. Did you order a comfortroll one? It comes with the drain hose and everything.

Tip make sure to lay the template down and set in your seat and place the template around your foot. get it adjusted so when your sitting down that it will be in a comfortable spot. then staple the template in place. nice to have a second hand help you do this.

Yes I did get comfortroll, I have some good marks in my carpet from my pedal now, so I know right where I want to put it. I saw from your pictures that you still have the motor that came with the boat, I got to tell you I switched my with the Tour Grade 75lb 24v motor and it was the best thing I ever did to the boat. WOWWWW what a difference it made ! Just thought you might want to know. Thanks for the info on the comfortroll , and I will let you know how it turns out. Maybe with some step by step pictures for some of the other guys who want to do the samething. Thanks again!!!!!

lol actually......  Your welcome. I had almost forgot to get them, but my father in law bought a new tr54 trolling motor for the boat after using my tr 82 in my boat. So i was installing it for him and thought oh man i told them guys i would get them some pictures of this foot well. I told him the last thing I wanted to upgrade on the boat when I owned it was the trolling motor. You cant compare to having that variable speed digital dial. and the steering on the tr series is night and day. Unfortunately this boat we use for power plant lakes around us with a 25hp limit so if we were to go to a 24 volt the extra battery weight would kill the little bit of performance we have out of it.... lol Thats why he bought this one off me so I could go buy a bigger fiberglass boat for using on the big bodies of water we go on. Now we have best of both worlds. The day after he went with me in my boat and i let him troll for awhile with my tr 82 he went and got a tr54 for this boat. nice having a father in law 2 doors down sometimes. now I have access to my old boat as well as my big boat and just have to go 2 doors down to get it. what a deal for me.  .... lol  ;D

Installed my Comfortrol today with no problems, did not lose the three tubes, just pushed them to each side. Looks Good and can't wait to use it.Drain hose took a little work to fit just right so the water will run straight down , you have to cut away some of the spray foam. I drilled a hole in the tray that the rods sit on right below the comfortrol and ran the hose there. After you remove the foam, which takes a little time, the hose goes straight down. Well worth the time , because it makes for a nice and neat install !

Congrats on the add on. I new you would like it. And your back will pay you back in good return for installing this.

Hello.  Great thread and it got me wondering how easy this would be to install on my '97 Tracker Pro 17.  I know there is no rod storage on the front of my boat so was wondering if this is something I can do with the front deck in place.  I am not sure I trust myself to get the deck off and back on properly doing it solo.

Is this easier to install on the older boats due to no rod locker or do you really need to remove the front deck to do it properly?

Thanks,
Y

swimjig

You don't have to take the deck off! If you have a way of seeing what is under the deck before you cut the hole, on my boat I took the small panel in the front off to see in there. check out Comfortrol web site for tips

Great info! It's next to do on my list. Here is a pic of a 2008 txw175 with the deck off.
