Can't see while driving in a rain storm????  Try this.  Put on your polarized sunglasses.  When the rain is coming down hard or in sheets, most folks kick up the speed of their windshield wipers and slow down. (reducing speed is always a good idea).  I read this tip years ago, but basically forgot about it until I was in a recent downpour coming to work (first rain since early May).  Put on your glasses and voila!  You cut the glare down to an acceptable level and increase visibility.  A much safer trip to / from wherever you are headed.

hmm never really thought about this one iClass. That would make more sense to do that..

Hmmm.  Can clear glasses be polarized?  Never really thought about it.  Heck, I guess Im not even reel sure what polarizing is, I just know its good.  lo  I'll have to do some research now.  Jim

May work just as well with regular sunglasses, but I don't wear anything but polarized any more.  Much better on the eyes...Now if I can just keep sunblock on the rest of me. :-*

They make polarized sunglasses in light grey tints or even amber & pink.  I tried it during the rain down here in Korea and it was a great improvement.  I used my amber shooting glasses.  ~c~ ~c~

Rain X works great also. Just polish into windshield and the rain beads off. Love the stuff.

Waterweasel is right. I've used rain x before and I didn't even need to use my wipers.

RainX works GREAT!! Faster you go the better it beads off!! Don't recommend it for the side windows though as it has a "fine droplets" look that you can't see thru well.

Another vote for Rain-X.  Don't get the Rain-X glass cleaner combo, it's about worthless.  Get the straight stuff.  Apply one coat and let dry, then apply a second coat directly over the first and let the whole thing dry.  Use a spray bottle with just water and mist the windshield and buff with a paper towel.  I've driven through the back end of a tornado with rain so hard that everyone was pulled off the road, and never had to slow down.  And this was WITHOUT using my wipers.  You have to be going faster than 45mph to get it to work though.
The older I get the better I was.........

I was driving to St Augustine FL a few weeks ago and it was raining hard.  I remembered reading this very article and told my wife to hand me my glasses.  She said WHY?  I told her about the article and gladly handed my glasses over.....WOW did it ever make a difference...She agreed also....Thanks for the great tip....People kinda look at ya funny cause you are driving with sunglasses in the rain but who cares.....

I honestly don't know how people drive a car in the rain without Rain-X on their windshield (the washer fluid is great). Polarized lenses definitely help out in the rain and also help out a lot in the fog! Great tips!

Anybody wear yellow tinted lenses while shooting? Because if you do you know that the yellow tint helps to brighten things up. With that being said, try a pair on when in a rain storm. You will be surprised at how much better you can see when its gloomy and raining outside. Just a good tip from a S FL boy.
