modified cull beam

I really hate those bobby pins on my cull beam, 1 slip and the fish is pierced or worse. Saw something similar to this on UMF last season so made mods to mine.





$15 beam
$5 clamps

The clamps have predrilled holes under the rubber slip ons, all you have to do is drill out the rubber so they slide freely on the pins. May change it up and pull the pins all together and replace them with a larger saltwater sized swivel.

Those aren't just any clamps . . . those are pony clamps.   I carry about 8 or more of those when I am doing acoustical ceilings.

I would try the clamp idea for awhile and see if you like it.  Looks good.

Yeah, I like the clamps. I used them in metal fabrication for years. Have also used them with a rope to hold my boat to a brush pile during lunch break.

I am also not a fan of the pins that come with the beam, too time consuming and tricky. I'll have to see if I can find some similar clamps over here.
