What are some of the fishing tales that you've heard or created yourself

Things like

Wind out of the east fish bite the least
Wind out of the west fish bite the best

I just published my latest blog talking about these too and thought it would be cool to see what you all thought and what sayings you have heard or used over the years.

You ever heard the one about the "moon holding water",....lol

My grandpa(RIP) would always say,...
If the moon is cresent and right side up (like a smile) it was holding water and the fsih was bitin'
If the moon was upside down (like a frown) it was dumpin water, no water-no fish,.....

My grandpa once told me that no matter what the weather man says, if there is fog in the morning there will be no rain for at least 12 hours? Well in my 40 plus years I haven't been able to prove him wrong

Fishy Fishy in the Brook come and bite my fishy hook... usually catch a cat fish right after saying this

the only one i know is true is if i am on the lake u will catch more fish then i will

-wind from the north don't venture forth
-wind from the south fish open their mouth
-red at night sailor's delight, red in the morning sailor's warning
-usually if we see a lot of wildlife (deer, etc.) on the way to the lake it's good luck
I'm sure I've heard a lot more but can't think of them now

When ever we hit critters early in the morning on the way to lake we always had a good day of fishing.

Every time I get on the water this seems to work.  No reason behind it, but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

My entire life my Paw Paw and my dad told me "If the cows are grazing, the fish are biting and if the cows are laid up in the shade, dont bother going fishing"!

I Have proven it true many times, but I dont always pass a cow pasture on the way to the lake now days.  But i am a firm believer that the animals are in tune with mother nature like we could never understand...
