Mother Nature had a mishap this past weekend and I was told it could make a great reminder for the Boat Safety Board.

Mike,

Thanks for the post.  Never though about the spare clothes for summer time.
I always carry extra clothes during the winter time though.

Glad to hear that Laurie wasn't hurt.

OMG

Cork is NEVER allowed to tell the fishing stories again! Especially when they involve me  >:(

What the heck! We hit that dang stump, which by the way was not just a water logged piece of "soft wood" (tehe tehe tehe), it was solid STUMP! And yes I knew it was coming but knowing the river and the stumps I was already in the process of taking my foot off the trolling motor to put it on the deck so that I wouldn't fall. Help? No! Sounds like something I would say if I seen a spider (I hate spiders). It was probably more like Oh S--T!!! Because I knew it was coming. Now you already know I wasn't quick enough but here is where the slow motion camera must have intermittently switched between record and pause because Cork is extremely confused...

In no more than a split second the foot had to come down, I had to make a decision between the knees coming down on the new Dobyns rods (lure & HOOKS  :o ) on the deck or trying to catch myself with my hand. Instinct was to catch myself with the hand.

What the hand failed to recognize was that it held my brand new Champion Series Dobyns rod with a brand new Curado on it. And it just LET GO!!!!

So I reached out to grab it and when I couldn't reach it I had a split second to decide if I was going to let it sink or go in after it. That has never been a decision!

Let's see... Get wet... Save your $500 of equipment? Get wet... Save equipment? Ummmm no question! So in I went. I in no way just slipped of into the drink! And Cannon Ball! What movie was he watching... I know I have a habit of going in after rods but at least I can say I don't have ANY equipment at the bottom of a lake or river. I WENT in after that rod! And I didn't even get my hair wet... of course everything else was wet  ~roflmao

I did come up laughing, rod in one hand and the other hand on the boat. My toes had a death grip on the flip flops (second most valuable item in the water) so I promptly lifted my feet up and asked him to get my flip flops one at a time.

Cannon Ball... We'll see who does a cannon ball next time we are on the boat. His gimp arse doesn't stand a chance  >:D

Well as you can see in any fish story there are always more than one side... All I can say is I had a perfect vantage point for cataloging this event LOL but if that's the way Mother say it happened then that's what happened. I better get back to cleaning the boat....

Right, his perfect vantage point was first checking to make sure that the stump didn't scrape the side of the boat   ~b~ then as he turned around his next thought was Nooooooo!  :shocking: not the rods! As he seen that I was about to land on all 15 that he had on the deck  ~roflmao And the next vantage point may have been perfect but he sure wasn't cataloging anything while he was watching me go in after that rod! It was nothing but a sigh of relief after that. He was just happy that I came up laughing so he didn't have to admit that he had inspected for damages while I was instinctively rescuing equipment  b~o

Stumps can get you in trouble.  Crash and I were fishing next to mike and laurie on Fork a few sprins ago and it was Chilly to say the least.  Well we were fishing swimbaits on a sunken bridge looking for big girls that were ready to move up.  We had drifted off the bridge a little, SOOO I spun the dial up on the motor guide to get back in position quickly and right about the time the boat hit WFO with a 109lb TM we dead centered a big stump with the merc!  I am talking dead stop.  :shocking:  I heard a little yelp and a big thud as I was hugging the TM trying not to go head first into cold water.  ^-^  When I get turned around I realize that Crash had done a complete flip and landed on the front deck.  :o   As soon as she caught her breath I got called quite a few things and none of them were good.  :surrender:
It was just a good thing we were going straight forward and she landed on the deck. because I am not sure either one of us would have survived if she landed in the 49 degree water.  ~shade

So my priorities might be a little mixed up LOL but I'm quick I had it all accomplished before she was ready to hand the rod back LOL

If I was smart I would have left her in the water! She could have been my side imaging for the day ;) Might have caught a few more fish :)

"hugging the trolling motor" that was funny!!

What was Funny was when Laurie heard the commotion with Crash yelling at me was she thought I had knocked a big fish off the hooked while trying to net it for Tab.  lo

I wish yall would have had a Vid camera.  I really would like to see the somersault.  ~shade lo lo lo
